title: "TeamCity 2026.2: Pipelines General Availability, BYOK for AI Assistant, and More"
description: "TeamCity 2026.2 makes pipelines generally available on TeamCity Cloud and On-Premises, moving them beyond the Early Access Program and adding branch-aware editing, failure-tolerant job execution, promotion, job debugging, and VCS-unbound workflows. The release also expands AI capabilities: AI Assistant supports Bring Your Own Key for Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, other supported models, or a local LLM, while MCP adds pipeline management tools and OAuth/PKCE authorization. Additional changes include configurable retries for failed dependencies, IDEA plugin improvements, GitHub pull-request matching by source branch, and a choice of server- or agent-side Kotlin DSL compilation. The pipeline MCP post and delete tools require manually enabled Brave mode, and DSL compilation on agents is described as less restricting and more secure but subject to trade-offs. Bug-fix updates 2025.11.8 and 2026.1.4 also ship."

## Summary

TeamCity 2026.2 makes pipelines generally available on TeamCity Cloud and On-Premises, moving them beyond the Early Access Program and adding branch-aware editing, failure-tolerant job execution, promotion, job debugging, and VCS-unbound workflows. Bug-fix updates 2025.11.8 and 2026.1.4 also ship.

## Context

TeamCity pipelines were introduced in TeamCity 2025.07 as an Early Access Program feature. Since then, support has expanded toward parity with classic build configurations, including build features, .NET steps, and pipeline links in build chains. This release moves pipelines to general availability on TeamCity Cloud and On-Premises.

## Approach / What changed

The release adds pipeline branch selection and protected-branch warnings, jobs that can run after upstream failures, pipeline run promotion, in-editor job debugging, and workflows without VCS roots. It also introduces BYOK for AI Assistant, three pipeline-management MCP tools, OAuth/PKCE authorization, dependency retry settings, IDEA integrations, GitHub source-branch matching, and selectable server- or agent-side Kotlin DSL compilation.

## Takeaways

- Pipelines are now generally available on both TeamCity Cloud and TeamCity On-Premises for projects of any size and complexity.
- AI Assistant can use a developer-provided API key with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or other supported LLMs; MCP also gains OAuth/PKCE authorization.
- The MCP post and delete pipeline tools are restricted to manually enabled Brave mode, while agent-side Kotlin DSL compilation has stated security and flexibility benefits with trade-offs.
