### [How we raised mobile end-to-end test stability to 98%](https://yomu.fyi/post/how-we-raised-mobile-end-to-end-test-stability-to-98.md)
- Company: [Shopify](https://yomu.fyi/company/shopify.md)
- Author: 2023-10-18
- Published: Aug 12, 2026
- Type: Problem & solution

Shopify’s largest mobile app had become blocked by flaky end-to-end tests, which failed when screens took longer to render and had been removed from pull-request checks. Since 2023, tests used Appium through WebdriverIO and React Native Test IDs, allowing timing shortcuts and assertions about component-tree presence rather than what merchants could see or use. The rebuild hides Appium behind a strict builder-style wrapper that requires an assertion after every action; computer vision uses screenshots, PaddleOCR for text, and OpenCV for icons, with Test IDs as an opt-in fallback. After promotion into blocking CI, stability reached 98% of individual test successes over total runs, up from 50% with the old API, on two platforms. A pre-promotion flakiness gate rejects tests that exceed a failure threshold across repeated runs, while remaining failures largely involve network problems or simulator boot failures.

### [Grab Bench: Evaluating AI on Grab-shaped production work](https://yomu.fyi/post/grab-bench-evaluating-ai-on-grab-shaped-production-work.md)
- Company: [Grab](https://yomu.fyi/company/grab.md)
- Author: Christian Coffrant
- Published: Aug 12, 2026
- Type: Benchmark

Grab Bench is a configurable evaluation harness for assessing AI systems on production-shaped work where plausible outputs can violate metric definitions, tool contracts, evidence boundaries, or hidden code invariants. It uses YAML configuration, task plugins, provider and modality checks, row-level records, model summaries, and deterministic scorers or LLM judges according to each task. Synthetic or redacted cases preserve production-relevant difficulty while protecting live data; profile reasoning requires ontology-valid JSON claims and faithful evidence IDs, while coding tasks exercise hidden tests and anti-gaming checks. The harness also records tokens, latency, skip reasons, configurations, and failure tags so teams can diagnose whether errors reflect unsupported claims, parameter drift, hidden invariants, cost, or capability gaps. It concludes that synthetic evaluations test contract adherence under controlled pressure but do not establish production uplift.

### [Taking AUTO CDC to the next level: Solving the hardest real-world use cases](https://yomu.fyi/post/taking-auto-cdc-to-the-next-level-solving-the-hardest-real-world-use-c.md)
- Company: [Databricks](https://yomu.fyi/company/databricks.md)
- Author: Josh Seidel, Shanelle Roman, Sudhanva Huruli
- Published: Aug 11, 2026
- Type: Announcement

The post describes new AUTO CDC capabilities for challenges that standard CDC patterns do not fully address, including out-of-order bitemporal timelines, partial updates, and durable audit history. Bitemporal AUTO CDC tracks business and system time independently through four managed interval columns, rewriting affected history when corrections arrive out of order so either point-in-time view can be reconstructed. Partial Updates are generally available and treat selected incoming NULL values as "do not update," preventing unchanged fields from overwriting stored values. The post also describes logging business and system timestamps in MLflow for reproducibility after VACUUM, and notes that the Python API for AUTO CDC Type 1 is being contributed to Apache Spark 4.2, with a SQL interface already merged for a next release.

### [Scaling patterns for self-organizing multi-agent clusters with Kiro](https://yomu.fyi/post/scaling-patterns-for-self-organizing-multi-agent-clusters-with-kiro.md)
- Company: [AWS](https://yomu.fyi/company/aws.md)

Traditional multi-agent architectures rely on a central supervisor agent to decompose tasks and aggregate results, creating single points of failure and context-window throughput bottlenecks. To address these scaling limits on decomposable workloads, kiro-flock implements self-organizing clusters of headless Kiro CLI agents on Amazon EC2 coordinated entirely through shared Amazon S3 state. Agents operate in bounded peer topologies such as logical rings, reading neighbor append-only logs and generating artifacts without direct inter-agent messaging or central brokers. Each agent starts fresh per iteration without conversational memory, reading current direction and peer logs to prevent drift and preserve steering control. This shared-state pattern enables resilient parallelism for tasks requiring diverse independent contributions, such as code reviews or codebase migrations.

### [Open-sourcing Metals v2: Databricks’ Java and Scala language server for multi‑million line codebases](https://yomu.fyi/post/open-sourcing-metals-v2-databricks-java-and-scala-language-server-for.md)

- Author: Ólafur Páll Geirsson, Iulian Dragos, Alessandro Patti
- Published: Aug 11, 2026
- Type: Announcement

Databricks open-sourced Metals v2, a Scala and Java language server designed to provide low-latency code intelligence for multi-million-line Bazel monorepos, including its 26M-line repository. The project extends Metals v1 by reworking three layers: a build-free, content-addressed mbt repository index; compiler-backed Scala and Java pipelines using a Metals-provided sourcepath; and metadata-first BSP integration that keeps build synchronization off the startup path. Its Java implementation uses javac APIs and a modified Turbine header compiler, which processes close to one million Java lines per second on one thread and supports interactive analysis at nearly 100,000 lines per second in benchmarks. Metals v2 is available in Cursor, VS Code, and Neovim under Apache 2.0, while Databricks reports Cursor’s share of Scala and Java file-open events rising from 40% to 78%.

### [NVIDIA JetPack 7.2.1 Adds Agentic Video Skills and T3000 Emulation](https://yomu.fyi/post/nvidia-jetpack-7-2-1-adds-agentic-video-skills-and-t3000-emulation.md)
- Company: [NVIDIA](https://yomu.fyi/company/nvidia-developer-blog.md)
- Author: Elizabeth Goodman
- Published: Aug 11, 2026
- Type: Announcement

JetPack 7.2.1 adds support for PyNvVideoCodec 2.2, NVIDIA's Python library for hardware-accelerated video encoding and decoding on GPUs, alongside foundational agentic video skills for Jetson workflows. These skills inspect the live target, query codec capabilities, generate Video Codec SDK or PyNvVideoCodec recipes, execute runs, and return measurements, warnings, and reproducible evidence. PyNvVideoCodec keeps frames in GPU-resident device memory through DLPack and CUDA device buffers, with multi-mode frame sampling and a ThreadedDecoder that pre-decodes frames in a background thread. The release also enables emulation of recently announced Jetson T3000 performance on a Jetson T5000 module in the Jetson Thor AGX Developer Kit, while the video skills are limited to Video Codec SDK and PyNvVideoCodec stages.

### [What's new in pg\_clickhouse v0.10.0: Subqueries, TPC-H Speedups, C Driver, and Aggregates](https://yomu.fyi/post/what-s-new-in-pg-clickhouse-v0-10-0-subqueries-tpc-h-speedups-c-driver.md)
- Company: [Clickhouse](https://yomu.fyi/company/clickhouse.md)
- Published: Aug 11, 2026
- Type: Announcement

pg\_clickhouse v0.10.0 expands pushdown for analytic workloads, with full pushdown across the TPC-H suite remaining the stated target. The release moves the scoreboard from 12 of 22 fully pushed-down queries to 16, including Q17, which falls from 32.7 seconds to 37 milliseconds when its correlated aggregate subquery is shipped to ClickHouse. SubPlan handling now turns PostgreSQL subqueries into ClickHouse subqueries, while NOT IN and related operators receive guards that preserve PostgreSQL’s three-valued NULL semantics; compatibility requires ClickHouse 25.8 or later for the correlated-subquery shape. The binary driver was rebuilt on a plain-C client library and hardened against concurrency bugs. The release also broadens pushed-down functions and aggregates, adds clickhouse\_perform() and clickhouse\_server\_version(), and leaves six TPC-H queries plus other roadmap items unresolved.

### [A decade of mathematical certainty: Reflections on the Automated Reasoning Group](https://yomu.fyi/post/a-decade-of-mathematical-certainty-reflections-on-the-automated-reason.md)
- Company: amazon.science
- Author: Byron Cook
- Published: Aug 11, 2026

Launched in 2016, the AWS Automated Reasoning Group applies mathematical logic, formal verification, and satisfiability modulo theories solvers to prove the correctness and security of cloud systems at scale. Early research prototypes such as Tiros and Zelkova evolved into production tools like Reachability Analyzer, Amazon Inspector, S3 Block Public Access, and IAM Access Analyzer to evaluate network reachability and access policies. Internally, the group has verified foundational infrastructure, including cryptographic libraries, boot code, the Nitro Confidentiality Engine, and an authorization engine handling one billion API calls per second. Requiring precise formal specifications frequently uncovered simpler, more maintainable system designs while establishing guarantees that traditional scenario-based testing cannot provide. Recent initiatives integrate automated reasoning into generative AI workflows, powering Amazon Bedrock Guardrails, agent compliance policies, and requirement verification in Kiro.

### [Car Seat FAQ](https://yomu.fyi/post/car-seat-faq.md)

Uber Car Seat rides use a Nuna RAVA Series convertible car seat and require drivers to view a Nuna installation demonstration. The RAVA is intended for children weighing 5 to 65 pounds and measuring 49 inches or less; parents, guardians, or caregivers must verify eligibility and secure the child properly. Nuna prefers vehicle-seat-belt installation because it avoids confusion about switching from lower anchors, fits more vehicle makes, and supports more seating positions, while NYC drivers attend an installation demonstration. Children above 65 pounds or 49 inches will not have an appropriate seat, and caregivers should consult the provided videos or manual for installation and securing guidance. To address allergy concerns, drivers may ask for children’s hands to be cleaned after eating, and caregivers should ask before food is consumed in the vehicle.

### [Thinking of ACE? We Can Do It with Fewer Tokens](https://yomu.fyi/post/thinking-of-ace-we-can-do-it-with-fewer-tokens.md)

ALTK-Evolve and ACE are agentic-memory systems that turn an LLM agent’s past trajectories into reusable lessons without weight updates or human labels. Both preserve individual lessons and attach evidence counts rather than compressing experience into a short summary, but ACE injects its full evolving playbook at every step while ALTK-Evolve consolidates typed, provenance-linked guidelines and retrieves a model-appropriate subset or the full set. On AppWorld’s 168-task test\_normal split with the same ReAct setup, ALTK-Evolve reached 89.3 TGC and 80.4 SGC on DeepSeek-V3.2 at 263K tokens per task, versus ACE’s 80.4 and 73.2 at 634K. With gpt-oss-120b, it reached 56.0 TGC and 37.5 SGC at 116K tokens, narrowly exceeding ACE’s 54.8 and 35.7 at 777K. The comparison uses single pass@1 runs and in-house ACE results on matched models, while the authors attribute the cost difference to delivery rather than lesson quality.

### [NVIDIA Nemotron 3.5 Lightning Delivers Fast, Accurate Specialized Task Execution for Long-Running Agents](https://yomu.fyi/post/nvidia-nemotron-3-5-lightning-delivers-fast-accurate-specialized-task.md)
- Company: [NVIDIA](https://yomu.fyi/company/nvidia-developer-blog.md)
- Author: Tanya Lenz
- Published: Aug 11, 2026
- Type: Announcement

NVIDIA Nemotron 3.5 Lightning is an open 30B mixture-of-experts model with 3B active parameters, designed for the high-volume execution layer of long-running autonomous agents. The post positions it alongside frontier reasoning models: larger systems handle planning and orchestration, while Lightning handles tool calls, result validation, subagent delegation, and other routine work. Its design combines harness-optimized training, multi-token prediction for speculative decoding, DFlash and DSpark draft models, and NVFP4 quantization alongside BF16. The model is customizable through LoRA or full SFT, reinforcement learning, and environment-based evaluations, with weights, training data, and recipes released under OpenMDW-1.1. The post reports up to 4x the output speed of similar-sized models, 86% accuracy on PinchBench, and completion of 10,000 tasks 30% faster than Qwen3.6 35B at similar accuracy, while NeMo Switchyard routes work among models.

### [Route AI Agent Workloads Across Models with NVIDIA NeMo Switchyard](https://yomu.fyi/post/route-ai-agent-workloads-across-models-with-nvidia-nemo-switchyard.md)
- Company: [NVIDIA](https://yomu.fyi/company/nvidia-developer-blog.md)
- Author: Michelle Horton
- Published: Aug 11, 2026
- Type: Explainer

NVIDIA NeMo Switchyard addresses the problem of routing AI-agent work across models with different capabilities, costs, latency, and verbosity profiles rather than sending every request to one model. At runtime, its router evaluates a request, context, policies, and system signals, then directs work to a configured model pool, potentially routing individual agent steps and carrying session state when needed. The provider-agnostic switchyard-libsy SDK separates semantic model targets from provider endpoints, while a reference server accepts OpenAI, Anthropic, and Responses API requests and records routing decisions and outcomes. Available approaches include tuning-free LLM classifier, stage, and escalation routers, alongside tunable and custom algorithms. In a LangChain evaluation, escalation routing cut cost 74% versus a frontier-only baseline with a measured six-point accuracy trade-off, while Cognition’s staged routing reported near-frontier coding performance at approximately 28% lower mean cost.

### [Cloudflare DDoS Threat Report H1 2026: 1 Tbps attacks soar as DNS floods and geopolitical tensions drive a new wave](https://yomu.fyi/post/cloudflare-ddos-threat-report-h1-2026-1-tbps-attacks-soar-as-dns-flood.md)
- Company: [Cloudflare](https://yomu.fyi/company/cloudflare.md)
- Author: Cloudforce One
- Published: Aug 11, 2026
- Type: Explainer

In the first half of 2026, network-layer DDoS attacks exceeding 1 Tbps surged by 519% quarter-over-quarter, with 935 mitigated attacks recorded across the period. Threat actors shifted their focus toward reflection and amplification methods, making DNS-based floods and CLDAP floods the dominant vectors. Despite the rise in hyper-volumetric traffic, 96.62% of network-layer attacks remained under 500 Mbps and 90.60% ended in under 10 minutes. Geopolitical conflicts and international events heavily influenced target selection, pushing the Media, Production & Publishing industry to the top position. Because brief multi-gigabit bursts trigger downstream routing instability and application timeouts before analysts can respond, automated, always-on edge mitigation has become critical.

### [Modern Risk Demands a Real-Time Foundation: The CRO’s Mandate](https://yomu.fyi/post/modern-risk-demands-a-real-time-foundation-the-cro-s-mandate.md)
- Company: [Databricks](https://yomu.fyi/company/databricks.md)
- Author: Amit Kumar Jha, Amee Vora, Andrea DeSosa, Suresh Sethuramaswamy
- Published: Aug 11, 2026
- Type: Explainer

The piece argues that modern risk failures stem less from modeling weakness than from slow, fragmented data architecture. It uses Silicon Valley Bank, Archegos, and the UK LDI crisis to show how batch processing, siloed counterparty data, and static stress tests can obscure liquidity, aggregate exposure, and feedback loops until intervention is difficult. Its proposed shift is a unified Databricks Data and AI Platform combining governed data, real-time aggregation, lineage, scenario analysis, and AI-assisted investigation across risk functions. Specific capabilities described include Unity Catalog permissions and lineage, VaR or Expected Shortfall deltas computed in seconds, and SQL-auditable natural-language queries with MLflow-backed model provenance. The conclusion is that real-time, defensible risk visibility supports the CRO’s expanding role in capital allocation and growth, with Raiffeisen Bank International, Morgan Stanley, and State Street cited as production examples.

### [What's new in Sentry Logs: The summer 2026 roundup](https://yomu.fyi/post/what-s-new-in-sentry-logs-the-summer-2026-roundup.md)
- Company: [Sentry](https://yomu.fyi/company/sentry.md)
- Author: Ben Coe, Allison Rogers
- Published: Aug 11, 2026

Sentry introduced a collection of updates to its logging platform aimed at improving search scalability, export flexibility, and general viewer usability. The system now supports URL-synced log pinning alongside an overhauled export interface that handles aggregate data, full attribute payloads, and high-volume JSONL formats across Logs, Errors, and Tracing. Performance enhancements to the log viewer include a more constrained layout with reduced initial data loads, inline error representations, individual chips for multi-value search terms, and trace-level filtering. To assist large-scale queries spanning hundreds of gigabytes or terabytes, frontend and backend modifications added longer query timeouts with continuations, clearer rate-limiting messages, and in-place retries.

### [Electric joins Databricks to bring WASM Postgres to AI agent sandboxes](https://yomu.fyi/post/electric-joins-databricks-to-bring-wasm-postgres-to-ai-agent-sandboxes.md)
- Company: [Databricks](https://yomu.fyi/company/databricks.md)

- Published: Aug 11, 2026
- Type: Announcement

Databricks says Electric is joining the company to extend its Postgres capabilities from the lakehouse to AI agent sandboxes. The post frames agentic applications as requiring both durable governed state and rapidly changing local context: agents choose data at runtime, operate in sandboxed environments where cloud databases are reached over the network, and collaborate while working in parallel. Electric’s PGlite is a lightweight Postgres database built for WebAssembly that runs inside an agent, application, browser tab, or device, while its real-time sync engine synchronizes distributed data with centralized Lakebase infrastructure. PGlite’s weekly downloads reportedly grew from 1 million to 13 million in twelve months, and the sync architecture is described as keeping agents’ shared context current. Combined, Lakebase, PGlite, and synchronization are presented as a Postgres-based foundation for collaborative agentic applications at production scale.

### [How Standardizing Product Telemetry Reduced Time to Insight by 97%](https://yomu.fyi/post/how-standardizing-product-telemetry-reduced-time-to-insight-by-97.md)
- Company: [Salesforce](https://yomu.fyi/company/salesforce.md)
- Author: Scott Nyberg
- Published: Aug 11, 2026
- Type: Problem & solution

Salesforce faced scaling bottlenecks when individual engineering teams maintained fragmented, custom telemetry pipelines requiring manual data transformations and dashboard creation every release. To resolve these silos, the engineering organization established the Product Data Platform (PDP) using a standardized custom schema built atop Monitoring Cloud infrastructure. This framework mandates core telemetry fields for consistent metric generation while offering governed optional attributes for product-specific flexibility. An AI-driven Model Context Protocol tool assists developers by recommending compliant instrumentation patterns directly within their workflows. Today, the unified platform processes 45 billion rows of data daily across 19,000 distinct events and 2,000 product features, reducing dashboard refresh latency by 97 percent from one month to daily updates.

### [Mastering Edge AI on Raspberry Pi with LiteRT and Gemma](https://yomu.fyi/post/mastering-edge-ai-on-raspberry-pi-with-litert-and-gemma.md)

Running edge AI on a Raspberry Pi 5 is presented as a way to build autonomous, low-latency systems that operate offline, with Reachy Mini serving as the demonstration. The setup combines LiteRT, LiteRT-LM, Gemma models, and LiteRT’s WebGPU (Vulkan) backend via ML Drift, splitting workloads between the CPU and VideoCore VII GPU. On CPU, Gemma 4 E2B reportedly reaches 99 tokens/sec prefill, 9 tokens/sec decode, and 1,432 MB peak memory; its tokenizer supports about 27.3 characters/sec in the voice demo. The pipeline runs YOLO object detection on the GPU, Moonshine speech recognition, Gemma reasoning, and text-to-speech on the CPU, while LiteRT CLI covers conversion, quantization, benchmarking, inference, and model execution from the LiteRT Hugging Face Community.

### [Why Go is an Ideal Language for AI-Assisted Software Engineering](https://yomu.fyi/post/why-go-is-an-ideal-language-for-ai-assisted-software-engineering.md)
- Company: [Google](https://yomu.fyi/company/google.md)
- Author: Cameron Balahan, Richard Seroter
- Published: Aug 11, 2026
- Type: Explainer

AI-assisted software development shifts the human bottleneck from writing code to reviewing, verifying, and maintaining generated code, while people still define architecture, service boundaries, safety, and reliability. The post presents Go as a language designed for software engineering and argues that its end-to-end platform—built-in formatting, testing, dependency management, security tooling, and a comprehensive standard library—gives teams and AI agents a consistent foundation. Go’s readability, explicitness, standardized syntax through gofmt, static typing, and single-binary portability are described as guardrails that make generated code easier to inspect, validate, and operate. It also identifies gopls, the rebuilt go fix with modernizers, profiling, execution tracing, and profile-guided optimization as tools for maintaining and tuning systems over time. The conclusion is that Go’s consistency and production-oriented tooling can help humans absorb high-volume AI output without sacrificing reliability, maintainability, or system integrity.
