### [Discontinuing Swift Language IDE Support in the Kotlin Multiplatform Plugin](https://yomu.fyi/post/discontinuing-swift-language-ide-support-in-the-kotlin-multiplatform-p.md)

JetBrains is discontinuing Swift language IDE features in the Kotlin Multiplatform plugin starting with IntelliJ IDEA 2026.3 and Android Studio Rabbit 2 | 2026.2.2, including editing, syntax highlighting, and navigation within Swift files and between Swift and Kotlin. Running iOS applications and debugging Kotlin code on iOS will remain fully supported, and Kotlin/Native functionality such as Swift Export is unaffected. The existing Swift functionality will remain available in earlier versions of IntelliJ IDEA, Android Studio, and the KMP plugin, though these older versions will not receive further updates. The decision follows analysis showing limited and declining usage, with most iOS developers on KMP projects preferring Xcode for Swift development. The Swift support, originally developed for AppCode, required substantial effort to stay compatible with changes in Swift, Xcode, and the IntelliJ Platform.

### [Native is now the future of mobile at Shopify](https://yomu.fyi/post/native-is-now-the-future-of-mobile-at-shopify.md)

Shopify is moving its mobile apps from React Native to Swift and Kotlin after reevaluating the assumptions behind its 2020 decision as coding models improved. React Native had reduced duplicated implementation and feature-parity work, but agents now handle much of the cross-platform implementation, translation, testing, and review work. Shopify is choosing greenfield rebuilds, with Helix breaking migrations into reviewed checkpoints that require tests, visual comparison, adversarial code review, and human approval. The Shop app reached the app stores as a fully native rebuild in 12 weeks, while the Shopify app migration is underway. The company will continue selected React Native library support while migrating all its apps, and will judge success by product velocity, app quality, and autonomous agent work.

### [Migrating Shop app from React Native to native](https://yomu.fyi/post/migrating-shop-app-from-react-native-to-native.md)

Shop migrated its React Native app to native iOS and Android implementations in SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose after coding-agent advances changed the economics of a shared mobile codebase. A one-week proof of concept showed that one engineer using agents could recreate screens, interactions, and flows closely enough to make a full migration feasible although the result was not production-ready. Six engineers then built the native foundations and main journeys with feature teams validating edge cases; they preserved sign-in state, push notifications, analytics events, and behavior while simplifying some screens. Compared with React Native, native startup was 23% faster on iOS and 50% on Android, stability rose from 99.5%+ to 99.95%+, Android size dropped 109 MB, release builds fell about 75%, and scrolling reached 120 FPS. The migration’s workflow combined specialized agents, plan approval, Tardis live-app feedback, screenshot and event comparisons, and human review while feature parity remained a release requirement.

### [Secure Authentication with a Push Notification in Your iOS Device](https://yomu.fyi/post/secure-authentication-with-a-push-notification-in-your-ios-device.md)
- Company: [Okta](https://yomu.fyi/company/okta.md)
- Author: Darko Spasovski

- Type: Tutorial

The tutorial shows how to build a native iOS sign-in flow using Okta DirectAuth and push notification MFA. It starts with an Okta Integrator Free Plan org, configures an OIDC Native Application and enables Okta Verify push notifications, while noting additional authorization policies may be required for a custom authorization server. In Xcode, the app uses Swift, SwiftUI, Swift Package Manager, and the Okta mobile Swift packages OktaDirectAuth and AuthFoundation to handle credentials, tokens, and MFA challenges without browser redirects. An AuthService coordinates authentication state, user and token information, sign-out, access-token refresh, and session restoration from stored credentials. The completed flow is described as phishing-resistant and able to maintain an active session directly within a SwiftUI app.

### [How We Built The Deals Tab in Swift UI](https://yomu.fyi/post/how-we-built-the-deals-tab-in-swift-ui.md)

Etsy’s App Updates team rebuilt the long-standing Updates tab as Deals, a destination for coupons and sales, while targeting an October launch ahead of Cyber Week 2023. The team chose Swift UI and Tuist to create a modular, preview-driven implementation rather than extend legacy Objective-C and server-driven layout code. The screen is assembled from typed API modules, parsed with Decodable, and rendered in a Swift UI List using reusable components such as buttons, headers, footers, and listing cards. To bridge incompatible legacy listing-card code, the module accepts a view builder from the UIKit hosting controller, allowing existing cards to be wrapped while newer cards could be implemented in Swift UI. After three months, Deals shipped ahead of deadline; new modules took one sprint or less, previews decoupled front-end work from API support, and the tab increased session conversion and app visits after its mid-October rollout.
