Unified Logs is now in open beta
Summary
Unified Logs enters open beta, bringing events from the API gateway, Postgres, Auth, Storage, PostgREST, Realtime, and connection poolers into one searchable dashboard view. Before this, debugging a single request required separate log pages, service-specific filters, and manual correlation across tabs, which slowed investigation and risked losing context. Users can filter by log type, level, status, method, or pathname, search event messages, share URL-based filter states, stream new events live, and zoom into timeline ranges colored by log level. Clicking a row opens a detail panel that presents network timing, gateway, database query, and Auth blocks alongside raw JSON, while Log Drains forward events to external destinations. The feature is rolling out to all projects during open beta, with the classic Logs Explorer still available and feedback requested.
Context
Before Unified Logs, debugging a single request required switching among separate log pages for services such as the API gateway, Postgres, and Auth. Each page had its own filters, making cross-service correlation slow and potentially causing the relevant context to be lost.
Approach / What changed
Unified Logs combines events from the project's services into one searchable table with service, type, level, status, method, pathname, and free-text filters. It adds URL-persisted filters, live tailing, a level-colored timeline, request detail panels with service-specific blocks, raw JSON, and Log Drains for forwarding events elsewhere.
Takeaways
Filters can be combined and are stored in the URL, allowing a link to reproduce the exact view for a teammate.
Live tail streams new events into the table, and stopping the stream lets users inspect the current rows without new events moving them down.
A selected row presents network timing, gateway, database query, and Auth details in structured blocks, while raw JSON remains available in a separate tab.
