BIMI: The Identity Proof Behind the Logo
BIMI is a DNS-published claim that ties a verified brand logo to an authenticated domain, so mailbox providers can display it. Here is what each part of that claim requires.
Auth0Andrés AguiarAnnouncement
Auth0 Agent Gateway is announced in beta as a Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) control plane for governing product-native, customer-facing AI agents in multi-tenant SaaS applications. It addresses a trust model involving organizations, delegated user access, customer consent, independently owned connected accounts, and cross-tenant data boundaries, rather than workforce-only identity. Positioned between an agent and its tools, the gateway evaluates each call using agent, user, and organization context; it uses Organizations, Agents as Principals, Token Vault, token exchange, tenant logs, and administrative controls. The described capabilities include short-lived agent-only tokens, user-scoped credentials, runtime tool authorization, audit logging with optional SIEM streaming, and an agent kill switch. Auth0 is seeking product and engineering teams to join the beta.
Customer-facing agents in multi-tenant SaaS applications operate across separate organizations, users, roles, data boundaries, and independently authorized third-party accounts. The source contrasts this CIAM model with workforce identity, where employees typically access data within one organization and connected accounts are centrally managed. It identifies cross-tenant exposure, unauthorized third-party actions, prompt-injection-driven misuse, and limited auditability as concerns requiring identity and governance controls.
Auth0 Agent Gateway sits between an AI agent and its tools. It evaluates tool calls using agent, user, and organization context; applies runtime authorization policies; uses Token Vault and token exchange for user-scoped credentials and short-lived gateway-only agent tokens; records activity in tenant logs with optional SIEM streaming; and provides centralized controls to disable agents or restrict downstream access. It can also broker access to internal APIs and MCP tools through Token Exchange.
Tool authorization is evaluated at runtime using the agent, user, and organization context, helping keep available actions within the current tenant’s policies.
Token Vault and token exchange can provide user-scoped credentials while keeping raw API keys and downstream tokens out of prompts, agent runtimes, context windows, and logs.
The gateway supports tenant logs, optional SIEM export, and an administrative agent kill switch for auditability and response to suspected breaches or runaway behavior.
Each request is evaluated in the current user and organization context. In the Project0 example, Acme can use its authorized Slack connection while Hooli uses its Microsoft Teams connection; the agent cannot use Acme’s Slack connection while acting for Hooli.
The gateway retrieves authorized credentials from Token Vault and can mint user-scoped tokens for internal and external APIs. Agents receive a short-lived Agent Gateway-only token, keeping raw API keys and downstream tokens out of prompts, runtimes, context windows, and logs.
Auth0 Agent Gateway provides centralized administrative controls to disable an agent or restrict access to downstream services and tools. It also logs agent actions to tenant logs and can optionally stream them to SIEM services.

Agent memory is the knowledge that survives a run, not the working state inside one. This explainer separates the two, then maps the write path, the read path, and the database limits that cap recall.
See how an agent request becomes an allowed or denied tool action through identity context, policy checks, scoped credentials, and an auditable decision trail.
