Twilio Video Media SDK Powers Smarter Customer Engagement
Twilio launched the Twilio Video Media SDK in Public Beta, a server-side software package that connects applications to a Twilio Video Room as a secure virtual participant, streaming real-time audio and video to backend systems. This launch supports AI-enabled customer engagement by allowing teams to use consistent AI logic across chat, voice, and video channels while keeping sensitive data secure. The SDK enables use cases such as multimodal AI assistants that see and hear users, ambient healthcare documentation, remote verification with computer vision, and server-side compliance checks. By routing individual media tracks to a secure backend, the SDK supports HIPAA and GDPR requirements without client-side rendering. Early adopter GLOBO Language Solutions uses the SDK to enhance real-time quality and AI integration for patient care in healthcare environments.
Announcing DPoP Support for Google OAuth: Securing Refresh Tokens
Google announced DPoP (RFC 9449) support for its OAuth platform, specifically binding refresh tokens to a client-generated asymmetric keypair to neutralize token theft and replay attacks from Infostealer malware and AiTM threats. Access tokens remain standard bearer tokens to avoid the per-request asymmetric cryptographic verification overhead on high-QPS APIs like Gmail and Drive, delivering a pragmatic tradeoff between security and performance. The implementation follows RFC 9700 best practices for sender-constrained refresh tokens and is recommended for Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) and Token-Mediating Backend architectures. DPoP operates at the HTTP header level, making it resilient in multi-hop environments such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) agent chains, though multi-agent delegation requires Google Cloud Secure Token Service (STS) to preserve key isolation. Complementary protections against cookie theft are offered by Device Bound Session Credentials (DBSC), which cryptographically binds browser session cookies to device hardware for a defense-in-depth strategy.
Meta Muse Spark Open is live on Together AI
Meta Muse Spark Open, an open-weight model for agentic coding, is now available on Together AI as a Day 0 launch partner with a 1-million-token context window on serverless and dedicated infrastructure. The model is trained on real developer work including multi-file refactors, debugging sessions, and long-running tasks, leading to higher first-attempt accuracy and reliable tool calling. It features long-horizon autonomy with planning, observation, and self-correction, computer use for desktop and mobile, multimodal input accepting text, image, audio, and video, and intent commentary that states actions before execution for auditability. Early access customers Factory and Ollama tested the model pre-launch and are offering it to their users from day zero. Serverless pricing is $1.25 per million input tokens, $4.25 per million output tokens, and $0.15 per million cached input tokens.
Welcome Muse Spark Open: open-weight frontier multimodal mixture-of-experts model from Meta
Meta released Muse Spark Open, an open-weight multimodal mixture-of-experts model with approximately 816 billion total parameters and around 42 billion active per token. It processes text, images, audio, and video inputs while generating text output, supporting a context window of up to one million tokens. The model uses 256 experts per MoE layer with 8 selected per token, and the BF16 checkpoint requires about 1.5 TB of storage. Meta trained Muse Spark Open for agentic coding tasks including reading codebases, writing and debugging code, and calling tools. The post provides recipes for running the model using transformers, llama.cpp, vLLM, and SGLang, as well as fine-tuning with LoRA on 64 H100 GPUs.
Welcome FLUX.3 Image Klein in Diffusers
The Black Forest Labs FLUX.3 Image Klein model is now available in Diffusers, combining text-to-image, multi-reference image-to-image, and bounding-box layout control into one pipeline. Two open checkpoints are offered: a distilled version using 16 inference steps without classifier-free guidance for fast generation, and a base version requiring 50 steps with guidance. The distilled checkpoint produces a 1024x1024 image in about two seconds on an H100, and quantized NVFP4 and FP8 weights can be loaded via from_single_file to reduce memory. The model is built as a Modular Diffusers pipeline, enabling users to remove, replace, or insert custom components, such as a block that captures intermediate clean-image previews. LoRA fine-tuning scripts for both text-to-image and image editing are included, along with a prompting guide for optimal scene descriptions.
Power real-time applications and agents with Document Intelligence
Databricks announces General Availability of Document Intelligence REST APIs for real-time document parsing, extraction, and classification, with the ai_decide API for routing in beta. These synchronous APIs eliminate the manual bottleneck of reading documents by transforming unstructured contracts, invoices, and insurance claims into structured insights in real time. The ai_parse_document API converts tables and figures into structured text with citation bounding boxes, while ai_extract pulls specified fields with optional citations and confidence scores for verification. The ai_classify API assigns labels using a business taxonomy with optional rationales, and ai_decide uses content to route or flag documents for review. Developers can integrate these APIs into Databricks Apps for human-in-the-loop workflows, such as a contract intake flow where a lawyer uploads an agreement and sees key terms prefilled, or into custom agents on Agent Bricks.
Preparing for the 2026 US midterms
Anthropic detailed strengthened election safeguards for Claude ahead of the 2026 US midterms, based on a week-long analysis of 250,000 conversations to understand usage patterns and prevent misuse. About 5.75% of US Claude.ai conversations touch on politics, 0.51% on elections, and 0.01% ask for voting recommendations, with violations at 0.002%; election-specific queries are expected to increase closer to Election Day. New features include TurboVote banners, state-specific voting information from Democracy Works, and live election-night results. Claude Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5, and Haiku 5.5 scored 99% on political evenhandedness, but independent reviews found uneven hedging and unsolicited caveats in some responses. Anthropic partnered with ISD and McCain Institute to pressure-test defenses, added classifiers for multi-step misuse, and banned accounts used to produce content favoring adversarial narratives.
HiRO-ACEv2: Simulating extreme weather at 3 km resolution for a fraction of the cost
HiRO-ACEv2 generates global 3 km climate data for extreme weather at roughly 1/300th the cost of the X-SHiELD model, with even larger savings for single-region runs. The system pairs a coarse 100 km AI model (ACE) with the new HiROv2 downscaler that simultaneously predicts rain, wind, and sea-level pressure instead of just rainfall, and has improved skill at reproducing extreme events. When fed coarsened X-SHiELD data HiROv2 matches the target’s high-resolution statistics within 3% for events as rare as one in a million data points, and accurately estimates tropical cyclone energy for storms never seen during training. Over a 10-year simulation the full system’s hurricane energy and extreme event snapshots compare well with X-SHiELD. However, HiRO cannot yet handle other climates because it depends on X-SHiELD-specific ACE tuning; future work includes training on warmer-world datasets and adding temperature and snow outputs.
Lauterbach and JetBrains Announce TRACE32 Integration in CLion IDE
Lauterbach and JetBrains have integrated TRACE32 debugging tools with CLion, enabling embedded developers to debug applications on target hardware directly from the IDE. The integration uses the Debug Adapter Protocol (DAP) to connect CLion to TRACE32 through the TRACE32 Debug Adapter, allowing developers to control execution, step through code, and inspect variables while TRACE32 handles target hardware communication. Two workflows are supported: launching a new TRACE32 PowerView session from CLion with scripts to configure the connection, or attaching to an existing TRACE32 instance. The integration requires CLion 2026.2.4 or later, TRACE32 PowerView 09.2026 (or build 195402), and TRACE32 Debug Adapter version 0.1.2 or later, with detailed configuration examples in the Lauterbach knowledge base. This brings code editing, navigation, and hardware debugging into one workflow, and a free webinar on October 27, 2026 will demonstrate the integration in action.
Introducing Private Network Gateway
Databricks announced Private Network Gateway (PNG) in public preview on Azure and private preview on AWS, addressing the networking friction that prevented teams from moving workloads to serverless compute. PNG provides a single managed gateway from serverless compute into a customer’s virtual network, eliminating the need for per-resource private endpoints, load balancers, and proxy VMs. Customers configure the gateway via a Network Connectivity Configuration (NCC) and delegate one subnet, with Databricks managing the gateway infrastructure while customers retain control over routing and security. PNG supports use cases such as ingesting from private databases via Lakeflow Connect, connecting AI agents to private MCP servers, using private package repositories, and routing egress through customer firewalls. The gateway offers two traffic modes for precise control or broad egress inspection and works alongside existing private connectivity without disruption.
Sentry's Flutter SDK 10.0: Streaming Traces and More Accurate Crash-Free Rates
Sentry released Flutter SDK 10.0, making streaming traces the default so spans reach Sentry as they finish, using Sentry.startSpan for custom work. Unhandled Flutter errors no longer mark the session as crashed, improving crash-free rate accuracy by keeping the session running until a real crash occurs. App startup on Android and iOS now has its own trace with breakdowns such as root-widget attachment and first-frame rasterization, and can be extended with SentryFlutter.extendAppStart. The release simplifies logs and metrics setup by removing separate enable flags, expands Dio network error capture to failures without HTTP responses, and respects Flutter’s SensitiveContent widgets in Replay and screenshots. Upgrading requires Dart 3.12, Flutter 3.44, Android API 26, and iOS 15, with native SDK installation via Swift Package Manager on iOS and macOS.
Anthropic opens Singapore office and signs MOU with the Government of Singapore
Anthropic opened a new office in Singapore, its fifth in Asia-Pacific, and signed an MOU with the Singapore Ministry of Digital Development and Information on AI safety, security, and model evaluation. The MOU, signed by co-founder Ben Mann and Permanent Secretary Kai Fong Chng, also covers research on AI adoption and responsible use across public and private sectors. Claude already powers services used by millions daily through organizations like GovTech, DBS, Grab, and Sea; Grab’s BriX assistant saves 40,000 hours quarterly. Singapore ranks second globally in Claude.ai usage relative to population, at nearly six times expected levels, and over 1,500 GovTech engineers use Claude Code. The office is hiring and plans technical exchanges, AI skills strengthening, and support for small and medium businesses.
A local Supabase project per agent, with or without Docker
The Supabase CLI v2.119.0 introduces an experimental native runtime that runs all 13 services as plain processes without Docker, reducing startup time by over 80% and idle memory by 89%. It also supports multiple local projects on one machine via git worktrees, each with its own Postgres, Storage, Edge Functions, and MCP server on auto-assigned ports. This allows each coding agent to have an independent database to reset and test against without affecting others, making a project per worktree practical on a laptop. Remote branches now inherit configuration from their base project and are ready nearly five times faster, with function bundles copied in parallel. The native runtime runs on Linux and macOS, and Docker remains the default when present, but the CLI automatically selects native when Docker is absent.
The Design Space of Tri-Modal Masked Diffusion Models
Discrete diffusion models have emerged as strong alternatives to autoregressive language models, but prior approaches typically initialize a unimodal model and fine-tune for bimodal generation. This work diverges from that paradigm by introducing the first tri-modal Masked Diffusion Model pretrained from scratch jointly on text, image-text, and audio-text data, and systematically analyzing multimodal scaling laws, modality mixing ratios, noise schedules, and batch-size effects. A key contribution is a stochastic differential equation reparameterization that decouples physical and logical batch sizes, removing the need for batch size tuning reported in recent work. The authors pretrain a 3B-parameter model on 6.4 trillion tokens and provide optimized inference sampling defaults, achieving strong results on text generation, text-to-image, and text-to-speech tasks. This work represents the largest open systematic study of multimodal discrete diffusion models conducted to date.
Modal crosses $1B in Annualized Run Rate and raises $750M Series D
Modal crossed $1B in annualized run rate and raised $750M in Series D funding at a $15.75B post-money valuation, led by Accel. Usage has tripled since the Series C five months ago, with year-over-year growth exceeding 15x, and the company now powers applications from companies including DoorDash, Cognition, and Runway. To avoid the friction of the old stack, Modal built its own file system, container runtime, scheduler, and networking from scratch on a capacity pool spanning over 20 clouds. Sandboxes, launched in 2023 for running LLM-generated code, now represent a $300M run rate product with nearly 3 billion sandboxes spun up and scaling to a million concurrent. New products include multi-node training with a single decorator giving a fully RDMA-connected cluster, Modal servers for HTTP serving, Endpoint Candidates for LLM serving, and generally available virtual machines.
One SDK, Multiple Platforms: Introducing the Auth0 SDK for Kotlin Multiplatform

Developers write login, logout, token management, and direct API calls once in commonMain using Kotlin suspend functions and a sealed Result type for exhaustive error handling. Native security is maintained through platform-specific implementations: Android uses Keystore-backed DataStore and Custom Tabs, iOS uses Keychain and ASWebAuthenticationSession, with Swift async/await interop via SKIE. The SDK is available on Maven Central as com.auth0.kmp:auth0:1.0.0-beta.1 as a single artifact or separate modules, requiring Kotlin 2.3.21, Android minSdk 24, and iOS 14.0+. It includes a Credentials Manager for token storage and automatic renewal, and supports advanced features including WebAuthn passkeys, DPoP token binding, custom storage, and configurable retry with fixed or exponential backoff.
Databricks is a Visionary the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms
Databricks debuted as a Visionary in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms, achieving the highest debut performance in the report’s 20+ year history. The company also received one of the highest Completeness of Vision scores among all vendors evaluated. Databricks attributes this recognition to its ability to deliver on three major trends reshaping businesses: data and AI platform convergence, agentic analytics, and semantics at the core. The Databricks lakehouse integrates BI directly, eliminating data silos and the need for extracts, so agents can reason over complete, governed context. With Genie and AI/BI, the platform automates complex workflows and provides a unified semantic layer through Unity Catalog Business Semantics and Genie Ontology.
What's New in Lakeflow Designer - October 2026 Roundup
Lakeflow Designer, a visual no-code data preparation tool in Databricks, added three new operators for cleaning, deduplication, and quality checks, addressing customer requests for more no-code capabilities. The Prepare operator standardizes data by changing case, converting types, replacing values, and applying formulas; Unique removes duplicates across selected columns with ordering control; Guardrails enforces quality rules with configurable failure handling. Existing operators gained multi-table joins with separate outputs for matched, left unmatched, and right unmatched rows, branching in Filter, and dynamic column selection in Select. Output options expanded to materialized views in Unity Catalog that refresh automatically, merge into existing tables, and direct file writes to CSV, Excel, or JSON with dynamic worksheets. Canvas improvements include a redesigned interface with better contrast and larger connection targets for large workflows, a searchable table of contents, visual version history, and live cursor presence.
Run fast, private agents on-device with LFM2.5-24B-A2B
LFM2.5-24B-A2B is a 24-billion-parameter reasoning model with only 2 billion active parameters per token, designed for fast, private on-device agents. It uses a Mixture-of-Experts architecture with 40 layers, 64 experts per block, and top-4 routing, combined with gated short convolutions and GQA. The model produces an explicit chain of thought before answering and supports tool calling and multi-step tasks. Pre-training scaled to 33 trillion tokens, followed by mid-training and a five-stage post-training pipeline including supervised fine-tuning, multi-domain distillation, and agentic reinforcement learning. On benchmarks, it leads or matches larger models on tool use and instruction following, achieving 48.09 on LiveClaw and 96.75 on IFEval, while decoding 184 tokens per second on an Apple M5 Max.
Making password login safer on Notion
Notion is requiring a second step of verification for password login to protect against credential reuse from other site breaches, and this change will roll out in stages over the next few months. When users set or change a password, they will be guided to set up two-step verification via an authenticator app or phone number and should save the backup codes provided. Users who already have two-step verification on their password need no action, and those without a password can continue using passkeys, email codes, or SSO. For password-only users without two-step verification, Notion will provide notice and time to set up a second step before turning off password-only login; if they choose not to, another method like an email code can still grant access. Additionally, where Notion can verify that another working method exists, it plans to turn off password login for those unused passwords.
