Introducing JWT authentication in ClickHouse Cloud
ClickHouse Cloud now supports JWT authentication for services running version 26.4 or later, allowing short-lived tokens from OpenID Connect providers such as Okta and Microsoft Entra to replace long-lived passwords. When a client presents a token, ClickHouse verifies its signature and claims, then creates an ephemeral in-memory user with the roles and grants specified in the token. The user disappears after the token’s expiration, removing the need for CREATE USER or DROP USER commands. Roles are managed once in ClickHouse and assigned via token claims; identity and group membership are governed by the provider. The feature also handles definer views by writing persistent shadow users, and it supports RS256 keys from version 26.4 and EC keys from version 26.8.
Migration toolkit for applications 8.3: Agentic code modernization, PVC mobility, and out-of-the-box generators
Red Hat’s migration toolkit for applications 8.3 is now generally available, adding agentic code modernization, direct storage mobility, and automated pipeline generation to OpenShift. The release serves as the official transition path from the migration toolkit for containers, which has reached end of support. For stateful workloads, it introduces direct TLS-encrypted persistent volume claim transfers with a stage-and-cutover flow, S3-mediated indirect transfers for disconnected environments, and intra-cluster StorageClass conversions that bypass Kubernetes immutability constraints. A developer preview agentic migration factory runs configurable multi-agent workflows that analyze dependencies, update code, and validate builds across independent stages, passing context through handoff files on shared Git branches. The toolkit also ships three new Helm-based generators that produce Tekton pipelines, Argo CD Application resources, and Kubernetes deployment manifests for onboarded applications.
Introducing: Spotify Technology. Proven at Spotify, now yours.
Spotify is launching Spotify Technology, a brand that unites Portal, Confidence, Xirp, and Spotify for Backstage into one system covering the product development lifecycle. These tools were built internally to solve problems at Spotify’s scale, where hundreds of teams ship code daily to 777 million monthly active users, and are now available as open source or commercial products. Portal encodes organizational knowledge so teams and agents build with shared context, Xirp brings that context into agentic development, and Confidence turns experimentation into product intelligence. The tools share a context layer and agent runtime so they compound rather than just coexist, and each earned its place by beating alternatives inside Spotify. Spotify Technology aims to become the connective tissue for R&D organizations, capturing what the organization knows, how it builds, and what it has learned.
Mellum2.1 Gets to Work: A Fast Open Model for Coding Agents
JetBrains open-sourced Mellum2.1, a compact 12B mixture-of-experts model with only 2.5B active parameters, released under the Apache 2.0 license. The architecture is unchanged from Mellum2, so all improvements come from post-training through reinforcement learning now the main training phase. The model trained on millions of sandboxed runs across thousands of real environments to develop agentic coding skills like exploring codebases, editing files, and checking its own changes. Performance evaluations show substantial gains in agentic coding, general coding, competitive programming, math, tool calling, and general knowledge compared to Mellum2 and similar open models like Qwen3.5-9B and Gemma 4 E4B. Mellum2.1 matches Mellum2’s speed and with multi-token prediction serves almost twice as many tokens as Qwen3.5-9B under heavy load.
New Report: The State of CI/CD in 2026
JetBrains released a report on the state of CI/CD in 2026, drawing on four surveys including the Developer Ecosystem Survey 2026 and the State of CI/CD Tools Survey 2026. Among DevOps respondents, 83.4% run CI/CD pipelines. Self-hosting remains strong: 72.8% run their primary system on premises or self-managed cloud, and 30.5% use on-premises installations, a five-year high. AI is used by 48.8% of organizations for at least one CI/CD task, but only 8% integrate AI steps directly into builds; 28% interact via MCP or agent skills versus 10% via built-in assistants. The report covers popular tools, reasons for multi-platform use, switching factors, and barriers to AI adoption.
Announcing Workday Data Connect federation in Unity Catalog
Databricks announced the public beta of a Workday Data Connect federation connector for Unity Catalog, enabling zero-copy queries of Workday HR and finance data directly from the Databricks Data and AI Platform without ingestion pipelines. Workday shares tables via an Iceberg REST catalog; Databricks creates a foreign catalog in Unity Catalog and reads data from Workday’s managed object storage, with Unity Catalog governing read-only access through table-level permissions, lineage, and auditing. Teams can query the federated data using Databricks SQL, AI/BI, notebooks, or Genie for natural-language questions about workforce and financial trends. The connector requires Databricks Runtime 19 or above and a workspace admin to enable it from the Previews page. The release builds on the Databricks-Workday partnership announced at Workday Rising 2025 and complements existing Lakeflow Connect and Live Data Query options.
Unified Customer Communications: Twilio Voice, SMS, and WhatsApp meet Salesforce
Twilio announced general availability of its Salesforce Partner Contact Center Integration, embedding its global Super Network with over 4,800 direct carrier relationships into the native Salesforce workspace. The integration unifies omnichannel orchestration across voice, SMS, and WhatsApp using Twilio TaskRouter, routing conversations into Salesforce’s omnichannel widget while preserving existing skills-based routing rules and syncing agent presence across channels. Real-time event metadata streams into the widget before a call connects, showing recent customer activity and sentiment to reduce average handling times and eliminate repeated information requests. Carrier-grade telephony with native real-time transcription and recording splits caller and agent voices for precise transcriptions, sentiment scoring, and post-call summaries. By pairing Salesforce’s familiar interface with Twilio’s communications engine, the integration gives agents a seamless workspace with a single source of truth, eliminating tab-switching and lost context.
September 2026 Fraud Update: Phishing Trends, Third-party Safety and Latest Releases
Twilio’s Q3 2026 fraud update covers phishing trends, third-party safety, and new releases. Over 80% of phishing originating from SendGrid was due to account takeovers, with attacks centered on delivery service spoofing, invoice fraud, and targeted Japanese campaigns impersonating brands like Amazon and Mercari. Attackers used fabricated forwarded threads, typosquatted domains like tvvilio[.]org, familiar names, AI-generated email templates, and associated phone calls, sometimes spoofing Twilio’s help line. To secure third-party integrations, Twilio recommends scoping access strictly, practicing credential hygiene, and reviewing audit integrations regularly, and now recommends OAuth 2.0 Client Credentials over auth tokens or API keys for scoped short-lived tokens. New releases include IP ACL with Dry Run mode, which logs blocked requests without enforcement to prevent accidental lockouts before real enforcement.
The Outer Loop, Insights First: An Ambient Quality Agent That Diagnoses Your Production Agent
AI agents in production often pass health checks while silently failing at real tasks, such as confirming a seat without checking availability. Google and ADK released AQuA (Ambient Quality Agent), a sidecar system that continuously sweeps production agent trajectories from Cloud Trace, Cloud Logging, or BigQuery outside the request path. AQuA samples up to 1,000 recent sessions, grades each against a developer-defined goal and a nine-point breakdown checklist using a single-pass judge (or optional Gemini AutoRaters), clusters failures by mechanism, verifies clusters with a second model, and tracks them in BigQuery. Developers can trigger root-cause analysis that reads failing trajectories alongside the immutable deploy-time source snapshot, citing exact code lines without auto-applying edits. The system runs unattended, sweeps after each deploy or on demand, and produces verified failure clusters to feed back into the inner development loop, solving quality degradation that standard health checks miss.
Now GA: Building permission-aware Databricks Apps with on-behalf-of-user authorization
Databricks Apps now generally supports on-behalf-of-user (OBO) authorization, enabling apps to act using the signed-in user’s identity so Unity Catalog enforces existing data permissions including row filters and column masks. Developers choose between app authorization for app-owned operations and user authorization for user-specific data access, with API scopes such as sql:restricted-query limiting what the app can do on the user’s behalf. The forwarded user access token is short-lived and per-request, passed via the x-forwarded-access-token HTTP header to the SQL connector, and the app must never store it. Workspace administrators can set an allowlist of API scopes, providing two levels of control: the app declares minimum scopes and the workspace defines the maximum, with account administrators able to add scopes outside the allowlist. The post recommends keeping app-owned and user-authorized clients separate in code and failing closed when a user token is missing to avoid returning results with incorrect permissions.
🗽 Postgres Summit US 2026 retrospective
ClickHouse sponsored Postgres Summit US 2026 in New York City, where David Wheeler presented “Postgres in da ClickHouse” on integrating Postgres and ClickHouse for OLTP and OLAP workloads. He demoed four technologies: pg_stat_ch for query metrics, pg_clickhouse for querying ClickHouse from Postgres (pushing down 16 of 22 TPC-H queries and supporting nearly all Postgres data types), chdb_hook for efficient data lake file import/export via COPY (outperforming similar extensions), and WalShadow for sub-second physical replication. Other sessions covered pg_plan_advice in Postgres 19, index prefetching for Postgres 20, open source CDC plugins, and a graveyard of technologies that failed to “kill” SQL. Wheeler also attended talks on Postgres replication, African Postgres communities, and CloudNativePG extensions. The conference marked ClickHouse’s first Postgres conference sponsorship, with plans to sponsor PGConf.EU in Valencia.
Scaling Decision Optimization to 100 Million Variables and Beyond with mPDLP in NVIDIA cuOpt
Supply chain and energy grid planning problems now exceed the memory and time limits of single-GPU solvers. NVIDIA cuOpt introduces mPDLP, a multi-GPU primal-dual hybrid gradient solver that distributes linear programming problems across NVLink-connected GPUs. The algorithm’s hot loop is a sparse matrix-vector multiplication, a memory-bound operation that benefits from the increased bandwidth of multiple GPUs. Min-cut partitioning reduces communication overhead by keeping tightly connected dependencies on the same GPU, enabling up to 6x lower peak memory per GPU. On the benchmark problem zib03 with over 104 million nonzeros, mPDLP achieved a solve rate nearly 10x faster than the previous year, and partners Kinaxis and PSR demonstrated 3.3x and 5x speedups on real-world models.
Faster Scientific Image Analysis with NVIDIA cuPhoton
NVIDIA cuPhoton is an open-source CUDA-X toolkit of GPU-accelerated building blocks for scientific image analysis, from sensor read through classification, covering spectral and optical astronomy and time-domain laser/X-ray analysis. High-throughput instruments like the Vera C. Rubin Observatory generate up to 20 TB of images per night, but CPU-bound pipelines create delays of hours to months. cuPhoton keeps data on the GPU end-to-end, collapsing nine months of data analytics to four hours on GPU-accelerated Python. The toolkit includes modules for FITS loading, image registration, PSF-matching and subtraction, dipole fitting, and candidate review. Benchmarks on multi-GPU systems show individual operation speedups of up to 14,900x for loading and 14,550x for processing.
Introducing Warm Agents, a TeamCity Plugin
The Warm Agents plugin for TeamCity reduces build queue time by maintaining a target number of idle, pre-started cloud agents, addressing the delay when builds wait for a starting agent. When idle agents drop below the target, TeamCity automatically provisions a new instance from the cloud image, ensuring builds start immediately; instances start in batches with short delays. The plugin works with any cloud provider TeamCity supports, requires TeamCity 2024.12.3 or later, and respects the cloud image’s hard limit on total running agents. Administrators configure warm agents via REST API calls, setting a target count per cloud image, and can schedule target changes using build triggers to scale down overnight and restore in the morning. The plugin trades cost for latency, as each idle agent consumes a build license and cloud instance cost, and exposes utilization and saturation metrics in Prometheus format.
Introducing Falcon ASR
The Technology Innovation Institute in Abu Dhabi released Falcon-ASR, a 1.6 billion parameter speech recognition model focused on Arabic, especially the Emirati dialect, while also supporting English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. On the Open Universal Arabic ASR Leaderboard, Falcon-ASR achieved a 20.92% average word error rate across six test sets, outperforming the best published average of 23.17% in the reference snapshot. The model recorded a 22.73% word error rate and 10.19% character error rate on an internal Emirati evaluation, 4.07% better in word error rate than the next best system compared. Training data included background noise, overlapping speech, music, reverberation, telephony effects, speed, and pitch variations to handle diverse recording conditions. Falcon-ASR builds on the Falcon3-Audio architecture and provides word-level timestamps linking transcribed words to audio positions.
One Model Family, Two Gold-Level Results: Fine-Tuning Nemotron for IOI and IMO
Starting from Nemotron 3, the team applied supervised fine-tuning (SFT) and reinforcement learning (RL) to create specialists for competitive programming and olympiad mathematics. At the IOI, the Nemotron-3-Ultra-CC model, trained with SFT on 22,000 curated problems and paired with GenCorrect iterative refinement, scored 535.4 of 600 points, exceeding both the gold threshold and the top human score. At the IMO, a combination of SFT and RL checkpoints scored 30 of 42 points by generating, critiquing, and refining natural-language proofs without external tools. Both projects followed a shared recipe: start with a strong base, curate domain-specific data, apply standard post-training, and tie the model to an inference loop that improves candidates. The results show that specialization and test-time compute together produce gold-level performance, and all models, data, and inference pipelines are available on Hugging Face.

The team recommends the toolchain for new KMP projects and plans future milestones like brew installation, out-of-the-box AI skills, and streamlined app store publishing.
Your Next Action Is Two Dots Away
IntelliJ IDEA’s command completion, triggered by typing .. in the editor, provides context-aware access to IDE functionality without memorizing shortcuts or navigating menus. The feature analyzes the syntax tree, scope, and caret position to present only relevant actions. In the 2026.3 EAP, logpoints are now accessible through command completion, and the IDE can suggest replacing print statements with logpoints. AI actions such as explaining code, generating docstrings, and refactoring are also available through the same .. workflow. Postfix completion and live templates now share a consistent interface with command completion, and support extends to binary files, decompiled code, properties files, and Spring workflows.
Intelligent Workload Management: Keeping Your Clusters Available When It Matters
MongoDB Atlas announced Intelligent Workload Management (IWM) as GA in MongoDB 9.0, a managed availability capability that keeps clusters responsive and predictable under overload. When demand exceeds safe processing, IWM limits incoming work and queues surplus requests by default, keeps short-running operations moving while managing long-running ones conservatively, and adjusts memory and cache management to preserve cluster health. It works with or without auto-scaling, helping clusters stay stable while additional capacity provisions, closing the gap between a traffic spike and new capacity coming online. Default protections are enabled at no extra cost on eligible dedicated clusters and require no application changes; optional Load Shedding can reject excess operations for sustained overload, and Coinbase’s VP of Engineering cited confidence during peak trading windows. Observability metrics in Atlas track IWM interventions, and a test validates driver compatibility and application handling before enabling Load Shedding in production.
