Interoperability between Unity Catalog and Google BigQuery via catalog federation
Databricks and Google Cloud announce bidirectional catalog federation that lets customers access the same data from Unity Catalog or BigQuery without duplication. The interoperability uses Apache Iceberg REST catalog APIs, enabling both platforms to read and write the same tables through a common open interface. Google Cloud's catalog federation is in preview for reading Unity Catalog-managed tables from BigQuery, while Google Cloud's Lakehouse federation is in private preview for Databricks users to govern and read foreign Iceberg tables. Unity Catalog's policies, fine-grained access controls, and lineage tracking apply to federated data, and users can query it with Genie using natural language. The announcement positions open standards as a path to interoperability across data platforms and previews future catalog metadata exchange through Iceberg REST catalog APIs.
Build programmatic agents with the Cursor SDK
Cursor’s SDK is now in public beta, letting developers build programmatic coding agents with the runtime, harness, and models used by Cursor’s desktop app, CLI, and web app through TypeScript. Agents can run locally, on Cursor’s cloud in dedicated VMs, or on self-hosted workers; cloud sessions include a repository clone, configured development environment, streaming, reconnection, and options to push branches or open pull requests. The SDK also provides codebase indexing, semantic search, grep, MCP servers, repository skills, hooks, and named subagents, while supporting every model available in Cursor, including Composer 2.5. Described uses include CI/CD automations, custom internal platforms, and customer-facing agent experiences, with starter projects for quickstarts, prototyping, kanban workflows, and a CLI; the SDK uses standard token-based consumption pricing.
Two commands to Sentry: now on Stripe Projects
Sentry is now integrated into Stripe Projects, enabling developers and coding agents to discover, provision, and manage Sentry services directly through the command-line interface. Running initialization and addition commands automatically sets up accounts, generates necessary environment variables like auth tokens and DSNs, and scaffolds agent skill files for tools such as Claude Code and Cursor. The integration supports plan upgrades, downgrades, and the addition of the Seer AI debugging assistant with billing handled through existing Stripe payment methods. Additional CLI capabilities include minting single-use magic login URLs for the Sentry dashboard, managing multi-member team collaboration tied to Stripe organizations, and rotating project credentials directly into local environment files.
DeepInfra on Hugging Face Inference Providers 🔥
DeepInfra is now a supported Inference Provider on the Hugging Face Hub, adding its serverless inference platform and catalog of more than 100 models to model pages and client integrations. The initial integration supports conversational and text-generation tasks, with access to open-weight LLMs including DeepSeek V4, Kimi-K2.6, and GLM-5.1; support for text-to-image, text-to-video, embeddings, and other tasks will roll out soon. Users can configure provider API keys and preferences in account settings, or authenticate with a Hugging Face token so requests are routed through Hugging Face, including from the Python and JavaScript SDKs and supported agent harnesses. Direct requests are billed by the provider, while routed requests use standard provider API rates without additional markup, and Hugging Face PRO users receive $2 of monthly Inference credits.

The New Normal Starts with Your Safety
Uber announced that, beginning May 18, 2020, riders, drivers, and delivery people would be required to wear masks or face coverings on its platform as cities began reopening during the COVID-19 crisis. The policy applied in many operating countries and was paired with cancellation and reporting options for people who felt unsafe or encountered noncompliance, while discriminatory cancellations remained prohibited. Drivers and delivery people had to complete a Go Online Checklist covering face coverings, sanitation, and keeping the front seat empty, then verify mask use with a selfie; riders had to confirm precautions, sit in the back, and open windows. Uber said it had allocated $50 million for supplies, secured more than 23 million masks, and was developing safety guidance with WHO and CDC.
Introducing the Work Hub, a new way for drivers to find essential work
With fewer people moving during COVID-19, drivers have fewer trips available and are earning less, prompting the introduction of Uber’s Work Hub. The hub brings together ways to find work with Uber and other companies, including one-tap access to Uber Eats delivery requests where available, signups for Uber Works shift jobs, and priority eligibility screening for Uber Freight for drivers with a Class A Commercial Driver’s License. It also connects drivers with external opportunities from companies hiring during the period, including Domino’s, Shipt, and CareGuide, alongside links to other job postings. Uber says it will continue adding partnerships and listings, and directs drivers to check the Driver app regularly for updates.
Introducing Uber VIP - Premium Rewards For Top Riders
Uber VIP is a no-cost monthly rewards program for riders in Nashville who complete 10 Uber trips each month. Members receive access to the highest-rated driver-partners, premium rides in top-quality cars, advance access to promotions, VIP-only giveaways and perks, and a monthly newsletter featuring local discounts and events. VIP rides cost the same as uberX, although the program warns that fewer VIP vehicles may mean longer wait times. Riders qualify by taking 10 rides in Nashville during each monthly period; Uber says it will provide status updates and automatically add VIP to eligible accounts at the start of every month. Keeping the benefit active requires completing another 10 rides per month, with examples of local discounts including Two Ten Jack and Blowout Co.
Strengthen customer loyalty and employee engagement with Vouchers for Uber Eats
Uber for Business is introducing Vouchers for Uber Eats, a meal-benefit feature intended to help organisations engage customers, guests, and employees during changing work and event routines. Businesses can create single or bulk voucher campaigns, choose coverage amounts, and apply controls for spending per order, order counts, dates, times, and other parameters. Recipients claim vouchers through an Uber account and redeem them at checkout, while administrators can track claims, meals ordered, total spending, and costs within a set time frame. The post presents uses including feeding teams returning to work, supporting remote events, treating clients, welcoming guests, and recognising employees, with no-contact delivery and access to 400,000 restaurant partners in over 6,000 cities cited as supporting options. It also says average delivery time is under 30 minutes, based on internal Uber data from 2018.

Securely send first-party conversion signals with Snapchat Conversions API on Databricks Marketplace
Snapchat Conversions API is now available as a Databricks Marketplace listing that lets teams activate first-party conversion signals directly from governed Lakehouse data. The included pre-built notebook reads gold-layer tables, batches web, app, and offline events, and supports deduplication with Snap Pixel, allowing server-side signals without double-counting. Because it runs in the Databricks environment, Unity Catalog preserves governance, lineage, security, and access controls while teams control what data is shared and when. The post says fuller server-side coverage can raise Event Match Quality, while citing that advertisers who improved their EQS from “Poor” to “Good” saw 26% higher ROAS and 49% lower CPI. It also describes fresher custom audiences and Lookalikes plus more complete deduplicated measurement.
Introducing the OSSCAR Index
Supabase has launched the OSSCAR Index, a quarterly ranking of fastest-growing open source organizations, with the site, data, and scoring code released as open source. It addresses the limits of rankings based on accumulated stars, downloads, or contributors by measuring community growth within two divisions: Emerging organizations below 1,000 GitHub stars at quarter-start and Scaling organizations at or above that threshold. Scores combine normalized net new stars, unique contributors, and npm, PyPI, and Cargo downloads using an L² norm, with minimum thresholds and no penalty for missing or declining signals. The Q1 2026 edition identifies Openclaw as a breakout project, places AI-agent projects prominently in Emerging, and reports global representation; quarterly updates, expanded package coverage, an RFC process, and historical rankings are planned.
Putting Fairness in the Driver’s Seat
Uber describes its deactivation principles and safeguards for drivers and couriers, motivated by the stress of losing app access and the need for decisions that are fair, accurate, and transparent. Most access issues are temporary, while permanent deactivations are described as rare and intended to protect platform safety; users should receive notice, relevant details, and an opportunity to respond whenever possible. The updated process lets drivers view eligible reports, submit context including Record My Ride audio or video, and have reports reviewed alongside their information, while systems filter suspected fraudulent or false claims. The Review Center explains deactivation reasons and appeal options, supports uploads, and sends every appeal to a real person, with additional measures including excluding low ratings caused by factors outside a driver's control, limiting trip categories when appropriate, and covering third-party testing for disputed impairment claims.
ClickHouse at Google Cloud Next '26
ClickHouse announced several product updates and integrations designed to deepen native compatibility with Google Cloud. Migration of ClickHouse Cloud to Google Axion ARM-based processors demonstrated a 30 to 55 percent query speed increase and reduced data load times from 64 to 26 seconds on ClickBench benchmarks. An integration with Google Lakehouse Runtime Catalog enables querying Iceberg tables on Google Cloud Storage via the DataLakeCatalog engine without data movement. Furthermore, Bring Your Own Cloud reached general availability on Google Cloud Marketplace, and ClickPipes added an unordered mode using Pub/Sub notifications for GCS ingestion. Google Antigravity integrated ClickHouse through an MCP server to translate natural language into SQL and generate interactive React charts.
The next generation of Databricks Genie
The next generation of Databricks Genie expands the assistant beyond individual Genie Spaces, combining structured and unstructured enterprise data in a unified chat experience. It reuses logic from certified Genie Spaces, governed dashboards, and Databricks Apps, with metadata-based routing that prioritizes higher-trust sources, while new reasoning models and agent architecture handle questions spanning multiple domains. Built-in connectors for Google Drive and SharePoint, plus MCP support, let Genie access knowledge stores and take actions; Unity Catalog AI Gateway manages these connections. The experience replaces Databricks One as an account-level global home, adding domains, custom URLs, unified login, automated identity management, and governance through Unity Catalog. Native iOS and Android apps extend access to dashboards, apps, and chat beyond desktop environments.

What's New in pg_clickhouse - JSONB Support, SQL value functions, Streaming, and more
Recent releases of pg_clickhouse, a Postgres foreign data wrapper for ClickHouse, introduce query pushdown enhancements and streaming result handling. Version 0.1.10 adds pushdown for JSONB accessor operators and extraction functions by mapping them to ClickHouse sub-column syntax and toJSONString calls outside SELECT clauses. In version 0.2.0, date and time functions such as CURRENT_DATE, CURRENT_TIMESTAMP, and clock_timestamp() push down to ClickHouse while honoring the active Postgres session time zone and precision settings. To address memory pressure and out-of-memory risks from large foreign queries, the extension adds query result streaming to the HTTP driver with a default batch buffer of approximately 50MB. Container benchmarking against the NYC taxi dataset showed streaming reduced peak memory consumption from over 600 MiB to under 86 MiB.
Databricks partners with OpenAI on GPT-5.5
Databricks announces a partnership with OpenAI around GPT-5.5, described as OpenAI’s strongest frontier model for enterprise agentic work, complex document reasoning, and long-horizon coding agents. The model powers Codex and is presented as able to research, analyze data, create documents and spreadsheets, operate software, use tools, check outputs, recover from ambiguity, and continue through multi-part tasks. Databricks evaluated it on OfficeQA, a benchmark built from 89,000 pages of U.S. Treasury Bulletins that tests document retrieval, table interpretation, and precise calculation. With retrieval handled, GPT-5.5 scored 64.66% versus GPT-5.4’s 57.14%; in the full-agent OfficeQA Pro Agent Harness, it scored 52.63% versus 36.10%, representing reported improvements of roughly 13% and a 46% reduction in errors.
Introducing the Sales Agent Blueprint
The Sales Agent Blueprint is a newly announced guide for sales, revenue, and AI transformation leaders seeking to launch and scale AI for inbound sales. It addresses manual inbound workflows in which leads wait in queues, making outcomes depend on team timing and capacity rather than buyer intent, and describes agents that engage buyers, qualify leads, and route high-intent opportunities in real time. The first available track, “Launch it,” covers understanding Sales Agents, building a business case, deciding whether to buy or build, evaluating performance with a five-step framework, planning deployment, and continuously training, testing, deploying, and optimizing the system. A second track, “Scale it,” is coming soon and will focus on redesigning the buyer journey, AI-first systems and ownership models, and pipeline generation and scaling.
Announcing the Public Preview of Lakeflow Designer
Databricks announces the Public Preview of Lakeflow Designer, a visual, no-code, AI-native experience for data preparation and analytics built directly into the Databricks platform. It targets analysts, domain experts, and other less technical users with drag-and-drop workflows and natural-language authoring, while representing each transformation as an operator with previews. Genie Code can use Unity Catalog metadata, descriptions, lineage, popularity, and example queries to generate or modify workflows, inspect transformation results, and iterate when needed. Every visual transformation produces production-ready Python code that can be reviewed, versioned in Git, and scheduled through Lakeflow Jobs, while users pay for compute rather than per-user licenses. The preview is available in all workspaces, although an administrator may need to enable Visual data prep in the preview portal.
