AG-UI as the Agent–UI Contract Layer
AG-UI is a typed event contract between an agent backend and a frontend, turning streamed agent state into UI. This diagram maps the layers and shows where human review plugs in.

Seer Agent, Sentry’s AI debugging assistant, now performs write actions through the Sentry API, such as setting up custom dashboards, creating monitors and alerts, and assigning, resolving, and archiving issues. It defaults to the user’s permission level and explicitly requests permission for tasks outside its write scope, with permissions not persisting beyond a single chat. The agent can also incorporate infrastructure data from external monitoring platforms like Datadog and Google Cloud Platform via Seer Connectors, using API keys instead of OAuth. This allows Seer Agent to diagnose issues by connecting front-end and back-end data beyond Sentry’s native scope. These updates evolve Seer Agent from a conversational rubber duck into a proactive debugging assistant that can act on behalf of users.
Seer Agent is Sentry’s AI assistant for debugging, launched five months ago. Initially it could only gather information and trigger Seer Autofix from alerts. The new updates enable it to perform write actions via the Sentry API and integrate infrastructure data from external monitoring platforms like Datadog and Google Cloud Platform.
Seer Agent now uses the Sentry API to perform write actions such as setting up dashboards, creating monitors, and assigning issues. It defaults to the user’s permission level and requests permission for tasks outside its write scope, with permissions not persisting beyond a single chat. Additionally, Seer Connectors enable integration with external monitoring platforms like Datadog and Google Cloud Platform using API keys, allowing Seer Agent to read infrastructure data for issue diagnosis.
Seer Agent can now perform write actions in Sentry, such as setting up dashboards, creating monitors, and assigning issues, using the Sentry API.
Seer Agent’s permissions default to the user’s level and it explicitly asks for permission before executing tasks outside its write scope; permissions do not persist beyond a single chat.
Seer Agent can incorporate infrastructure data from external monitoring platforms like Datadog and Google Cloud Platform via Seer Connectors, using API keys instead of OAuth.
Seer Agent defaults to the same permissions as the user and explicitly asks for permission before executing tasks if it doesn't detect the proper write scope. Permissions do not persist beyond a single chat.
Use the new Seer Connectors screen. OAuth is not currently supported, so you need an API key. Ensure the admin setting up the connection has access to the necessary environments or key.
Seer Agent can set up custom dashboards and widgets, create monitors and alerts, assign, resolve, and archive issues, and save explore queries and issue views.
