Self-hosted machines
Cursor’s self-hosted machines keep tool execution inside an organization’s own network, leaving the codebase, build outputs, and secrets on internal infrastructure while the agent handles tool calls locally. The feature supports My Machines for connecting one laptop or VM and team pools that provide named queues of workers, with capacity expanding as requests arrive and contracting when workers disconnect. Pools are repository-independent, can hibernate idle machines, and can restore them within a reconnect window, avoiding the need to keep costly capacity warm. Cloud agents can run on infrastructure including AWS Lambda, Coder, Cloudflare, Daytona, Modal, Namespace, Vercel, and E2B, while Linux and Mac workers add computer use for clicking, typing, screenshots, and browser control.
ClickHouse welcomes RunReveal
ClickHouse has acquired RunReveal, a company that built a security data platform on ClickHouse, and says the team’s expertise will become part of its work in security. The announcement frames security as a demanding data workload involving cloud audit logs, identity events, endpoint telemetry, and network flows, with continuous high-throughput ingest, years-long retention, and interactive query requirements. ClickHouse says the acquisition will bring sharper reference architectures, guidance on schema and retention design, and a clearer connection between customer requirements and its database roadmap, while RunReveal remains available through a bring-your-own-database model. Existing RunReveal customers will continue to receive platform support under unchanged contract terms, and the team’s work on agentic investigation is expected to inform support for analytics involving agents that hunt across sources, tune detections, and advance investigations.
The new Brickbuilder Partner Network tiers for ISVs and Data Providers are here
The Databricks Partner Network has launched Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum tiers for ISVs and data providers, with placement based on customer impact, technical excellence, strategic alignment, readiness and enablement, and joint go-to-market activity. Technical Excellence is evaluated through the Partner Well-Architected Framework (PWAF), which provides prescriptive, AI-ready guidance for secure, reliable integrations and serves as the standard for validated architecture. For customers, the tiers signal that a partner solution has met a high bar for architecture, security, compliance, and joint customer success, reducing vetting effort. For partners, each tier defines requirements and a roadmap tied to greater visibility, co-selling, and go-to-market support, while Databricks plans to refine the program and expand benefits over the coming months.
The Grails Plugin Has a New Home: Apache Grails
The Grails plugin for IntelliJ IDEA, providing framework-aware coding assistance, GSP tooling, and GORM integration, has moved to the Apache Grails project. The Apache Software Foundation now owns its source code, while the Apache Grails Project Management Committee oversees development, releases, and compatibility rather than IntelliJ IDEA release cycles. The Grails team builds, signs, and publishes updates to JetBrains Marketplace under the Apache Grails vendor listing; build 262.0.0 supports IntelliJ IDEA 2026.2. Existing users do not need to migrate, and the plugin ID remains unchanged for now, but beginning with 2026.2 it is no longer bundled by default with IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate. Users who cannot find it in the IDE can install it from Marketplace, where JetBrains will continue featuring the plugin.
Europe Data Residency for Atlas Embedding and Reranking
MongoDB announced the public preview of data residency in Europe and the United States for the Embedding and Reranking API Service (ERAS) on Atlas. This introduces a Geography, a named group of cloud regions, as a processing boundary for inference, distinct from the region-level cluster provisioning. Requests to a Designated Service are processed and logged only within the chosen Geography, with a 10% price premium for scoped processing. The Europe Geography initially covers EEA regions, and the US Geography covers US regions, with plans to expand. This approach supports data sovereignty goals for European organizations while maintaining a global endpoint for workloads without residency requirements.
Introducing @huggingface/kernels: 200+ WebGPU Kernels for Local AI
Hugging Face’s WebAI team is releasing @huggingface/kernels, a JavaScript loader for optimized WebGPU kernels hosted on the Hub, alongside an initial collection of 207 Apache-2.0 kernels. Each kernel repository packages a versioned contract, metadata, correctness cases, benchmark cases, and parameterized WGSL shader templates, while the loader derives outputs and selects variants for a request and device. Fleet adds browser-based correctness and performance testing, with consent-based private evidence used to identify failures, compare variants, and guide optimization. In comparisons against ORT WebGPU on an Apple M4, matching cases showed a 2.57x geometric-mean speedup and a 1.90x median speedup, though the measurements cover individual GPU operations and exclude setup costs. The project is also intended as a shared foundation for browser inference and future integration with higher-level tooling.
How to Make Your AI Agent Enterprise-Ready: Enabling Enterprise-Managed Authorization for Client Apps in Auth0
Auth0 is launching Early Access for Client App, or Requesting App, capabilities that support Cross App Access (XAA) for AI assistants, developer tools, and autonomous agents. In the Enterprise-Managed Authorization (EMA) model, an employee’s corporate SSO login can authorize access to external APIs or Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers through the IETF Identity Assertion Authorization Grant (ID-JAG) draft specification. Auth0’s Token Vault brokers the multi-hop exchange: it stores an upstream enterprise refresh token, retrieves a short-lived ID-JAG, exchanges it with the downstream Resource App, and returns a standard access token to the backend. Setup uses dashboard toggles and connection settings, followed by a standard /oauth/token federated exchange, while the API requires no XAA-specific changes. The release also describes audit logging, enterprise IdP policy control, OIN distribution, and caching downstream tokens because ID-JAG exchanges are rate-limited to 50% of the tier’s standard Auth API limit.
Introducing Adaptive Intelligence: undermining the economics of every bot attack
Cloudflare introduces Adaptive Intelligence, a bot detection engine designed for attackers who distribute requests across proxies, vary fingerprints, and continually test defenses. It argues that deterministic, rule-based systems create stationary targets: attackers receive repeated yes-or-no feedback while defenders update on slower release cycles, making adaptation economically cheaper for attackers. The engine changes this dynamic through continuously retrained machine learning, statistical rather than fixed judgments, and planned disposable rules that appear and retire at random intervals; it also learns from corrections and misses across millions of sites. Its first component, continuous retraining of the machine-learning system behind bot score, is launching now, while disposable rule generation and broader traffic learning are described as forthcoming, with Enterprise customers enabling “Auto Update Machine Learning” to receive it.
Sunsetting of the JetBrains Teacher Pack for Bootcamps
JetBrains is sunsetting the Teacher Pack for Bootcamps, citing the expansion of separate education programs for teachers, students, classrooms, and independent learners. Bootcamps can submit one final application by September 30, 2026, at 11:59 pm CET; applications will no longer be accepted from October 1. Approved applications submitted by the deadline receive one final set of student coupons valid for up to six months, while previously issued coupons and instructor IDE access remain active until their expiration dates, with no additional coupons or free instructor access after October 1. The program will be fully retired on April 1, 2027, when all bootcamp-provided coupons will have expired and the graduation discount will end; alternatives include Teacher Packs for accredited institutions, the Course Creators Program, the Student Pack, and free or non-commercial IDE options.
Previewing the Model Hardware Standard
Anthropic and HHMI Janelia Research Campus are opening a research preview of the Model Hardware Standard (MHS), a shared specification for AI agents to operate programmable laboratory and manufacturing devices safely. MHS replaces bespoke integrations with standardized drivers built around read and write primitives, device discovery, natural-language tags, generated reference files, and control through MCP, a command-line interface, or code files. The model-agnostic standard lets agents coordinate instruments, monitor operating data, adjust parameters in real time, and turn exploratory work into deterministic scripts; early projects covered protein assays, qPCR, microscopy, robotics, dose-response experiments, and quantum-laser stabilization. Reported results include serial dilution experiments running about three times faster and a QuEra laser-lock controller recovering 99.3% of the time, while the preview will inform safety evaluations and guidance before an open-source release.
Beyond answers: New Genie One features to turn insights into action
Genie One’s latest updates target the manual work that follows an AI-generated answer, including accuracy checks, report formatting, sharing, and repeated workflows. The release adds a native macOS desktop app in beta with a global launcher, persistent conversations across web and desktop, and access to documents, skills, scheduled tasks, Genie Agents, and Databricks Apps. Genie One can create editable documents with live visualizations, comments, version history, sharing, PDF export, and external-document editing through MCP writes. Users can also turn conversations into reusable, shareable Genie Agents or distribute read-only chat links containing questions, answers, visualizations, and context. Additional capabilities include ontology snippets, private uploads of supported files, and governed MCP actions, with Unity Catalog, source authentication, and Unity Gateway governing access across assets and connected tools.

BotBase for Operators: A clearer path to joining Cloudflare's directory of bots and agents
Cloudflare launched BotBase for Operators to give bot operators a clearer way to submit, monitor, update, and cancel bot-directory submissions from the dashboard. The new area includes a bots directory, submission form, and history tab with Waiting for review, Accepted, and Rejected statuses, including rejection reasons and classification changes. Its intake model records what a bot does, how it uses content, and whether it is direct or intermediary, while allowing multiple behaviors and Content Signals declarations. Reviews now use automated checks for duplicates, user-agent specificity, and verification through IP lists, reverse DNS, or Web Bot Auth, routing exceptions to staff. The launch focuses on visibility, with ownership, observability, and conversation identified as future goals.
A new getting started experience for ClickHouse Managed Postgres
ClickHouse Managed Postgres introduces a four-step onboarding experience designed to move users from provisioning a service to working with operational data and ClickHouse analytics. Existing onboarding placed new users on an empty Overview page, while the documentation quickstart required users to track progress outside the product. The new flow guides users through creating a service, migrating or ingesting data, running a query in the SQL Console, and configuring Postgres CDC to ClickHouse. Data can arrive through a managed Postgres-to-Postgres ClickPipe, a language client, a sample dataset, or a table created from scratch; pg_clickhouse provides a PostgreSQL query layer over ClickHouse foreign tables. The article reports less than a minute of replication lag and benchmarks showing five aggregations falling from 555 ms to 164 ms and a JOIN with aggregations from 1,246 ms to 170 ms on one million-row data set.
Expanding our support for scientists
Anthropic is expanding support for scientific researchers through free and discounted Claude subscriptions, research credits, and products designed for scientific work. The new Claude team plan for scientists opens 10,000 seats worldwide for one year: standard seats are free, while premium seats with five-times usage limits cost $15 per month; the program is intended to grow beyond that initial allocation. Its AI for Science program, previously focused largely on biological sciences, will offer credits to researchers in additional fields, including compute-heavy work, with up to $50,000 available per project after lab usage exceeds standard or premium allowances. Access requires principal investigators or equivalent leaders at academic or nonprofit institutions to verify their labs, while biology and chemistry researchers remain limited to Opus-class models and Fable continues to block professional biology and drug-development queries because of dual-use risks.
The Open ASR Leaderboard Adds Its First Global South Language
Voice Arena and Hugging Face have added two Monsoon evaluation sets, en-IN and hi-IN, to the Open ASR Leaderboard, introducing Indian English and Hindi coverage. The initiative addresses a limitation of aggregate WER: existing test sets record what was said but little about who spoke, making disparities across geography, age, gender, accent, devices, and other conditions difficult to see. The four speaker-disjoint public and private splits contain 4,888 speakers and vary across nine collection axes, using unscripted dual-channel conversations, broad district and device coverage, and 12 speaker metadata attributes. Because Hindi has extensive valid orthographic variation, its references use manually curated lattices and are scored with Orthographically-Informed Word Error Rate (OIWER); comparisons with flattened references show higher, non-uniform error rates and changed system rankings.
Differential Privacy for Hugging Face Trainers – Without Rewriting Your Training Loop
Training large language models on sensitive data risks memorization and membership inference attacks, yet standard high-level transformer tools lack native differential privacy capabilities. JetBrains Research created and open-sourced DPTrainer, a library that integrates PyTorch's Opacus framework with the Hugging Face Trainer ecosystem. The library provides differential privacy through differentially private stochastic gradient descent without requiring manual training loops or source code modifications. DPTrainer extends base training arguments with a PrivacyArguments dataclass, managing per-sample gradient calculation, gradient clipping, noise injection, and Poisson-sampled data loading. A dynamic patching mechanism injects differential privacy into specialized subclasses like DPOTrainer and SFTTrainer, while built-in privacy accountants track the cumulative privacy budget across training steps and checkpoints.
Building for the AI Era: Lakebase, Streaming, and Lakehouse Innovations at VLDB 2026
Databricks previews its VLDB 2026 keynote, four accepted papers, a demo, and a sponsor talk covering database architecture, streaming, and Lakehouse optimization. Reynold Xin will introduce Lakebase, which separates serverless PostgreSQL compute from storage, and LTAP, a transactional-analytical model intended for AI-agent workloads; Lakebase stores data and write-ahead logs in cloud object storage and supports sub-second cold starts and copy-on-write branching. The papers describe a decade of Spark Structured Streaming evolution, including microbatch pipelining that improved throughput by up to 3x, stateful APIs, and fine-grained access control, alongside AutoLiquid’s CLUSTER BY AUTO and Ultron’s history-based query optimization. AutoLiquid outperformed customer-selected clustering keys on over 95% of evaluated workloads, while Ultron improved median join latency by 25% in production workloads. The program also includes an Enzyme demonstration of incremental materialized-view maintenance and a sponsor presentation on LakehouseRT and the Reyden engine.
Introducing Anthropic's AI for Science Program
Anthropic is launching Anthropic's AI for Science program, an initiative that provides free API credits to researchers pursuing high-impact scientific projects, with particular emphasis on biology and life sciences. Qualified researchers will be selected according to their contributions to science, the potential impact of proposed research, and whether AI can meaningfully accelerate the work. The program is intended to support uses including analyzing complex scientific and genetic data, generating hypotheses, designing experiments, communicating findings, understanding biological systems, accelerating drug discovery, and increasing agricultural productivity. Researchers attached to research institutions can apply through an application form, with reviews conducted by Anthropic's team and subject matter experts in relevant fields.
Advancing Claude for Education
Claude for Education is adding integrations with Canvas, Panopto, and Wiley to bring course materials, lecture transcripts, and peer-reviewed content into student conversations. Canvas LTI lets students use Claude inside courses, while Wiley and Panopto connect through pre-built MCP servers. Conversations are private by default, excluded from AI training by default, institutional data requests require formal approval, and self-serve data exports are limited by default. The announcement also covers new institutional partnerships, a tenfold expansion of the student ambassador program, and Claude Builder Clubs featuring hackathons, workshops, and demo nights. It frames responsible collaboration, ethics, privacy, and equitable access as necessary to avoid deepening existing divides while AI transforms education.
