IDEA Prune: An Integrated Enlarge-and-Prune Pipeline in Generative Language Model Pretraining
Recent advancements in large language models necessitate efficient deployment options within constrained inference budgets. While structured pruning offers better token efficiency than training target-sized models from scratch, previous work frequently ignores the pretraining of enlarged models. To resolve this gap, researchers developed an integrated enlarge-and-prune pipeline that unifies enlarged model training, pruning, and recovery under a single cosine annealing learning rate schedule. This system incorporates an iterative structured pruning technique to gradually eliminate parameters, redistributing model capacity across surviving neurons and avoiding the knowledge loss seen in naive approaches. Evaluated on compressing 2.8B parameter models to 1.3B across up to 2T pretraining tokens, the approach yields superior downstream model performance.
Luce: Relightable Gaussians for 3D Asset Generation
High-fidelity image-to-3D asset generation requires 3D representations that capture geometry alongside physically based rendering modalities for seamless pipeline integration and relighting. Luce addresses this challenge by unifying geometry and material properties into a voxelized multimodal Gaussian cloud with dedicated primitives for albedo, metallic-roughness, and surface normals. A variational autoencoder compresses these multimodal primitives into a unified material-aware latent space. A rectified-flow transformer subsequently generates this latent from a single input image using multi-layer features extracted from a pretrained image encoder. On the Toys4K dataset, Luce improves FID by 28% over the leading baseline while maintaining fine details such as text and logos.
Restore LLM Inference Capacity in Seconds with Shadow Engine Recovery in NVIDIA Dynamo
LLM engine process failures typically trigger cold restarts that reload weights into HBM, compile kernels, and recapture CUDA graphs, leaving surviving workers to absorb displaced traffic for minutes. Shadow engine recovery, a preview feature in NVIDIA Dynamo, keeps a fully initialized standby on the same GPUs as the active engine. GPU Memory Service (GMS) preserves one physical weight copy across engine processes, while the parked shadow precomputes its CUDA context, graphs, communicators, and mappings but defers KV cache materialization. In a GLM-5.2 test, the shadow resumed service in 7.3 seconds after a worker failure, compared with 283 seconds for a cold restart, reducing post-fault p50 TTFT from 23,815 ms to 1,311 ms and improving decode rate from 12 to 46 tok/s/user. The preview does not cover hardware, node, or multi-node failures and currently starts promoted shadows with empty KV caches.
How Capital Markets Finance Protects Balance Sheet Returns
Capital markets finance must protect returns on a balance sheet exposed continuously to market, funding, and liquidity risk, while funding costs, capital consumption, and liquidity needs can change intraday. Fragmented desk P&L, treasury, and risk data require shared business context, with ontology and governance linking numbers to desks, products, positions, funding, capital, and permissions. Databricks’ Genie One is presented as a data-smart AI coworker that lets authorized finance users investigate governed data, trace emerging funding or profitability issues, and surface the definitions and source evidence behind capital and valuation figures. One top global bank reduced regulatory data processing for liquidity reporting from 10 hours to 8 minutes, while pricing, funding, risk, and capital decisions remain with accountable people.
How Suprema Gaming made its data platform agent-ready with ClickHouse Cloud
Suprema Gaming migrated its analytics platform from Snowflake to ClickHouse Cloud on AWS as part of a company-wide move toward agentic operations. The previous stack delivered data about four hours late, required heavy dbt rebuilds, and often took minutes to answer queries, limiting real-time investigations and interactive analysis. Suprema rebuilt ingestion with ClickPipes for supported sources and Debezium plus Kafka for others, while dbt and GitHub Actions deploy the warehouse-layer structure without external cron jobs, Airflow, or a separate orchestrator; governed access uses role-based controls and query-time PII masking. Before cutover, every metric was validated against the reference source, and the resulting platform reduced warehouse spend by roughly 62%, improved direct-read performance 27x, and maintains about one-minute p95 freshness, supporting an early production deployment of ClickHouse Agents.
Auth0, Made for Whatever You Are Building
Rapid application development with AI coding tools often produces unreviewed custom authentication logic that handles sensitive Personally Identifiable Information and regulatory requirements like HIPAA. Autonomous AI agents compound these security challenges by significantly widening an application's overall attack surface. Standardizing on Auth0 provides an established identity layer that integrates into agentic workflows via Claude plugins, an Auth0 MCP server, and standardized agent skill packages. This setup exposes Auth0 Management APIs and official documentation directly to AI agents, achieving integration times of three to four minutes according to Agent Experience metrics. Incorporating these pre-built patterns maintains security baselines while supporting scaling requirements across B2B plans for initial user bases up to 1,000 monthly active users.
STARFlow2: Bridging Language Models and Normalizing Flows for Unified Multimodal Generation
Existing multimodal models struggle with structural fragmentation, often sacrificing visual fidelity via discrete tokenization or breaking structural symmetry by pairing causal text generation with diffusion-based denoising. STARFlow2 addresses these limitations by leveraging autoregressive normalizing flows, which share the causal mask, key-value cache mechanism, and left-to-right structure of large language models. Built upon the Pretzel architecture, the system vertically interleaves a frozen pretrained vision-language model stream with a TARFlow stream through residual skip connections under a single causal mask. A deep-shallow flow design combined with a unified FAE latent space allows both text and continuous visual outputs to enter the key-value cache directly without re-encoding. Benchmark experiments validate strong performance across multimodal understanding and continuous image generation tasks.
From Prediction to Action: How to Turn AI Outputs Into Decisions
Salesforce addressed an operational challenge where sellers faced roughly 12,000 dashboards and over 20 applications outputting machine learning predictions without clear next steps. The engineering team reframed machine learning outputs as raw signals rather than standalone answers. To bridge the gap between assessment and action, they built a Next Best Action layer that combines model signals, business logic, and contextual institutional knowledge into actionable recommendations. They integrated this layer with an AI agent using Model Context Protocol (MCP) tool contracts, enabling dynamic discovery and explicit handling of missing data. Finally, rather than introducing a separate dashboard destination, the agent serves on-demand recommendations directly inside Slack where sellers already collaborate.
The Cloudflare Blog – Brought to you by EmDash
Cloudflare migrated its official blog to EmDash, an Astro-focused content management system, acting as internal Customer Zero to evaluate scaling and usability. To prepare for traffic spikes reaching thousands of requests per second, engineers used k6 to execute ramp, breakpoint, and burst load tests. The resulting production architecture runs EmDash on Cloudflare Workers, pairing it with Workers Cache, an object cache backed by Workers KV, and Hyperdrive connected to PlanetScale. This layered caching design serves 99.5 percent of static files and 70 percent of requests from cache, flattening p95 latency under real-world loads reaching 850 requests per second. The migration also introduced a frontend redesign using the Kumo design system and added Model Context Protocol servers for automated agent workflows.
How a global payment processor preserved AWS RAM shares and Lake Formation permissions during an AWS Organizations migration
A global payment processor migrating 382 AWS accounts between AWS Organizations encountered control-plane failures when AWS Resource Access Manager automatically severed organization-bound resource shares. Although data planes continued operating for shared resources such as AWS Transit Gateways, infrastructure automation lost the ability to modify dependencies like AWS Glue Data Catalog databases. The engineering team resolved this by implementing temporary retained bridge shares, establishing external principal associations that survived cross-organization account transfers. Following each account move, automated tooling restored durable original shares, validated Lake Formation permissions, and deleted the bridge copies to prevent configuration drift. This bridge-share workflow enabled the migration of 378 accounts before a Transitional Service Agreement deadline without customer downtime.
How We Optimized the Qwen 3.6 Model for Our Junie Agent
Deploying the Junie coding agent locally on Apple MacBook M5 hardware requires overcoming steep performance bottlenecks during model execution. Engineers optimized the entire stack using Qwen3.6-27B rather than Qwen3.8-27B, which severely degrades without token-heavy reasoning enabled. At the agent layer, Junie appends requests directly into a rolling context and caches initial prompt prefixes to maximize KV-cache reuse across tasks. For model inference, the team disabled reasoning, selected 4-bit quantization, and patched MLX-VLM to execute self-attention prefill matrix operations using faster 8-bit instructions on the M5 processor. Combining these prefill improvements with simultaneous multi-token prediction and n-gram speculative decoding delivered up to a 2x generation speedup.
How Indian Organizations in Regulated Industries Are Scaling with MongoDB
Indian organizations in regulated industries are modernizing legacy data infrastructures with MongoDB to achieve scale and compliance. Physics Wallah, serving over 7 million students, built a compliant multi-tenant payment platform on MongoDB Atlas using ACID transactions, Change Streams for audit trails, and native search. Flipkart uses MongoDB Atlas for high-throughput writes and real-time payment aggregation during mega sales like The Big Billion Days, with seamless horizontal sharding. IBS Software scaled three mission-critical platforms, processing billions of records and millions of searches daily with sub-100ms API responses and 99.99% uptime, while iTravel Cruise achieves 100,000 TPS at 5ms latency. Companies like Kore.ai and PineLabs use MongoDB Enterprise Advanced for on-premises deployments requiring high availability, strict security, and low-latency transaction processing.
Ensuring reliable OpenTelemetry ingestion at scale
LogHouse’s OpenTelemetry pipeline ingests 50 million events per second and stores 177 PiB of uncompressed data, but its initial agent-to-gateway design could not reliably absorb ClickHouse backpressure. In-memory queues caused instability during short-lived spikes or database outages, while local collector write-ahead logs made gateways stateful, slowed recovery, delayed fresh telemetry behind FIFO backlogs, and took about four hours to drain 1 TiB. The team rejected adding Kafka because operating a new tier-zero service across cloud regions was not justified for this use case, then designed a custom architecture using blob storage, the OTel failover connector, overflow notifications, and a catchup collector. In staging, failover redirected 120,000 events per second to S3 without changing gateway resource usage, and recovery resumed ClickHouse writes while the catchup collector drained the queue; the design scaled from 10 million to 50 million events per second, with added regional setup and less precise recovery visibility.
Branded Login URLs and Email Workflows for Production Auth
Default authentication setups often redirect users to third-party domains and issue generic transactional emails, causing password manager failures, browser cookie restrictions, and perceived phishing risks. To mitigate these issues, teams can configure custom identity domains via DNS CNAME records to preserve origin alignment and session persistence. Developers can also capture custom user fields directly within hosted login prompts using Universal Login partials alongside pre-registration Actions rather than managing custom authentication servers. For transactional messaging, teams must replace rate-limited built-in email tools with dedicated external providers and configure SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records alongside Liquid-templated emails. Managing these configurations through version control and deployment tools maintains security standards without adding excessive infrastructure maintenance overhead.
Beyond Visual CoT: Internalized Visual Thinking for Proactive Video Reasoning
Visual chain-of-thought methods allow multimodal large language models to reason through intermediate image generation, but synthesizing explicit visual steps creates major inference overhead during proactive video reasoning. To eliminate runtime synthesis, Internalized Visual Thinking introduces a post-training framework that jointly optimizes textual prediction and next-embedding prediction across unlabeled videos. By predicting latent representations of future frames alongside target text answers during training, the model captures motion, object transitions, interactions, and latent intent. At inference time, the model produces answers directly without generating or re-encoding future frames. IVT outperforms text-only post-training across six evaluation settings while matching or exceeding Visual CoT performance and cutting end-to-end latency by more than 5x.
Build a unified AI agent architecture with DynamoDB and Bedrock
AI agent architectures on AWS frequently divide operational records and vector embeddings across separate databases, creating synchronization lag and infrastructure overhead. To resolve this fragmentation, a single DynamoDB table can store operational document attributes alongside embeddings by leveraging native vector search. An Amazon Bedrock agent directs incoming queries to AWS Lambda action groups, which run standard CRUD operations or semantic searches against the DynamoDB SearchVectors API. When items change, a DynamoDB Streams pipeline uses Amazon Titan Text Embeddings V2 to generate new embeddings and write them back to the table. This unified approach eliminates standalone vector databases while keeping semantic indexes synchronized with operational updates.
A Tale of Two Flink Autoscalers
Netflix operates over 30,000 Apache Flink jobs across multiple AWS regions, ranging from managed pipelines to complex stateful DAGs. Its initial in-house autoscaler used external telemetry from Mantis and Atlas to scale TaskManagers as a single unit, cutting resource usage by 25–45% but failing on multi-operator stateful topologies. To address these limitations, Netflix adopted the Apache Flink Autoscaler library, which calculates True Processing Rate and per-vertex parallelism using internal metrics. The architecture uses Temporal workflows orchestrated within a Spring Boot application to evaluate jobs individually and prevent cross-job blast radiuses. Implementing the open-source autoscaler reduced annualized compute expenditures by 58% for client telemetry and logging, saving approximately $1.1 million.
What else runs on your Postgres server, and how do we stop it from taking the database down?
The Postgres VM described here runs PgBouncer instances, a backup agent, metrics exporters, a local Prometheus, a log collector, and watchdog timers alongside the database. Those processes share machine-wide resources outside Postgres’s huge-page-backed shared_buffers, so leaks, CPU saturation, or disk exhaustion can threaten database availability. ClickHouse Managed Postgres places supporting services in a cgroup v2 slice and combines Go runtime GOMEMLIMIT targets with systemd memory.high and memory.max enforcement. GOMEMLIMIT encourages earlier garbage collection, memory.high applies reclaim and throttling, and memory.max provides a hard ceiling whose OOM scope excludes Postgres because it uses a separate cgroup. CPU weights, bounded buffers, log and metric controls, disk thresholds, and exemptions for replication and monitoring sessions extend isolation across other failure modes; these controls are enabled by default.
Improved failure reports on Red Hat OpenShift with the event-driven diagnostic operator
During major infrastructure incidents, critical system logs and diagnostic evidence are frequently overwritten, lost, or erased by emergency recovery efforts before engineers can investigate. To solve this visibility gap in multi-cluster environments, an open-source event-driven diagnostic operator was developed as an automatic first information report collector. Deployed on a central hub cluster, the operator monitors Kubernetes warning events rather than relying on heavy polling. When an event matches a predefined regular expression pattern, the operator identifies the target spoke cluster, copies its kubeconfig secret, and spins up an independent must-gather job. Diagnostic data is written to off-site or shared storage with a configurable retention window, preserving forensic context without human intervention.
How AgentFlo built AI sales agents with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore – Part 2
AgentFlo designed an architecture using Amazon Bedrock AgentCore and AWS serverless infrastructure to address traffic spikes and build trust in autonomous commerce agents. Security operates across three stages: AWS Fargate filters prompt injections and opt-outs, AgentCore Gateway enforces deterministic Cedar authorization policies during tool execution, and post-turn privacy filters screen outputs. Session isolation is maintained across merchants through AgentCore runtime microVMs, while AgentCore Observability and Amazon CloudWatch provide end-to-end tracing. Data reliability and long conversation journeys rely on Amazon DynamoDB context storage, Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases, and Amazon S3 Vector embeddings. Early deployment data showed a 12 percent net revenue uplift.
