Expanding the Cyber Verification Program
Anthropic is expanding its Cyber Verification Program (CVP) to make advanced AI models with reduced safeguards available to qualifying security professionals. The program now offers three access tiers—Defense Access, Red Team Access, and Specialized Access—each with different verification requirements and security controls. Defense Access allows defensive work like incident response and vulnerability analysis, while Red Team Access adds authorized penetration testing. Specialized Access, with the fewest cyber blocks, is reserved for organizations testing high-risk safety systems and is reviewed in collaboration with the US government. Evaluations on CyScenarioBench showed that the Red Team Access tier did not block any tasks and achieved a 68% success rate, equivalent to no safeguards, while the Defense Access tier blocked 46 of 50 tasks.
Anthropic invests $100 million to train 10,000 engineers and tackle the enterprise AI talent gap
Anthropic launched Claude Frontier Academy with a $100 million commitment to train 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers by the end of 2027. The program addresses the talent gap in enterprise AI implementation, where skilled engineers are scarce. The Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency follows a medical model: engineers learn from practitioners, work on simulated enterprise deployments covering use case selection, security review, and handover, and are assessed on a graded practical before earning credentials. First cohorts include engineers from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, and Novo Nordisk, with cohorts running in San Francisco, New York, and London. The program starts with a multi-day in-person session with Anthropic engineers and licensed instructors and continues with a 12-week residency where engineers lead a real Claude use case at their organization, supported by Anthropic engineers, with the first FDE badges expected in early 2027.
Master your skills: Building skills you can trust
Skills in AI agent projects silently misfire when their trigger descriptions are passive or too general, causing the agent to skip using them. The authoring tool skill-creator, from Anthropic’s skills collection, provides an eval loop that generates positive and negative test prompts and iterates on description accuracy using a training and held-out test set to avoid overfitting. These tests are ephemeral, so the open-source framework promptfoo extends them into permanent configuration files that can be committed alongside skills. Promptfoo’s agent SDK providers test through the actual agent runtime and include a skill-used assertion to confirm proper routing, and its YAML-based configuration fits naturally into version control. The final step is wiring promptfoo evals into CI, using GitHub Actions with path filters to run on pull requests that modify skills, catching regressions before they ship and costing roughly $0.10-0.15 per eval.
